I got a letter off them the other day asking for prove of no claims discount, I never been asked for this before, and although I have 4 years from Nov 2003/2004my previous insurance compnay Norwich union only asked what no claims I had and they took my word so although I am honest I cant prove 100%, and they told me that they dont share information between each companu even though I knoaw Halifax insurnace do, as they tell you when wiating on the phone.

It’s standard practise with some insurers. Just call your previous insurer and ask them to send you proof of your NCB. They will send you a letter saying how many years you were with them and that you had no claims.

I got a letter from Tesco asking for my proof of NCB from my previous insurer. At first I thought it was a letter churned off in mistake and ignored it.

Then they wrote again saying if I did not forward it on, they would cancel my policy. So I called them and explained that Tesco were also my previous insurer but I said if they really wanted to, they could send my proof of NCB and I would send it back to them. That got a laugh and they said it was not necessary :rotfl:

They blamed the computer system of course - that's also standard practise with most insurers ;)

I did ask my previous insurer Norwich Union who I was with for two years, and they declined they said its on my policy which it is, but its all down to my word that I gave them when I first joined them in November 2003.

What annoyed me was the letter I got from Lloyds it sounded like the they already asked which they hadn't, this was the first I knew that they wanted prove " According to our records we wait the following doucmentation from you, Evidence if no claims discount (as issued by your previous Insurer nor Broker"

I have to send them my old previous insurnace policy as prove, all it says is 4 years no claims (Up to November 2005)years no claims. They wont accept copies only orginals. If they loose them I may have problems now claiming NCB.

I would write to NU requesting confirmation of your NCB. You could mention that you can't find your old policy document. You can also write to your previous, previous insurers (if you see what I mean) and also request confirmation of your NCB then pass the whole lot over to Lloyds.
