:eek:No way! The nearest we get to taking a gamble with our savings is to put £1k into premium bonds!

I'm really toying with premium bonds. I think the draw has been reduced though?
My parents have a couple of thousand in them and have never one anything....all their lives, but when I had up to the limit I got a good average return ...nothing big but a regular occurance of smaller prizes. More than I'm currently getting in returns in savings accounts.

I might comprimise and fill my quota but not get any for DH.

I have had a £50 win on the £1k bond - I have held it for about a year now, but in the past year I have also had a £50 win on a £1 bond bought for me as a christening present some 37 years ago - never won anything before with that one!!

I'm thinking of putting more into PBs - the interest rate on our savings is so crap now and I don't want to put money into a fixed-rate-for-a-year-or-so type account in case a house we may want to buy comes up.....

I think there is a PB thread on here somewhere?

    *off to look.....

I'm sure there was another one that I looked at recently, but I can't seem to find it now.

Is there a problem with links on the site at the moment? The above links don't work if I click on them but will open in a new tab:confused:

Oh, that means DS has been 'playing about' with the settings. It takes me for ever to sort it out as I am a technophobe - DS finds it highly amusing to tinker with my PC. I love teenagers - look like adults, act like .........

Possibly worth pointing out that ''next door'' on the recession, economy, houseprices board a story has been linked to about the need to invest in inflation proof thingamybobs. I'm feeling a bit panic stricken about all our savings again.

We were on the brink of making an offer again and only decided yesterday not to. I was feeling unsettled about the property but sort of glad to be putting stuff out of cash into a 'thing' but now we're still in money....and I'm feeling very insecure about money holding again :(
