are you going to be living alone? if so then does your councile tax include single person discount? round here that is 25%, why in gods name are you paying £20pm for internet? bt basic line rental is £11 a month and my isp charges existing customers with something else with them £7.50, unless by phone you mean mobile phone and internet includes bt line, in which case my bad sorry :o

my budget is similar (i earn slightly less but some of my bills are lower and the mortgage is £200 a month less), i have budgeted £100 for food, but i have to pass netto on the way between where i have offered for and my parents place and netto is getting an extension so i will be going there :D

I forgot about the single person discount! That takes me down to around £90 for council tax :) That gives me an extra £30 disposable

My £20 for phone includes £11 line rental and £9 on my contract (which i never go over cos i text everyone).

I put £20 for internet as i am a heavy user and download a lot and BT unlimited costs £18.99 per month ( i round up to make it harsher).

£300 a month mortgage! Thats very impressive indeed! Unfortunately i will be a first time buyer so wont be able to get a super rate to begin with :(

Im sorry everyone for posting my estimated budget on here, i guess its not really the right place

Me too  I update my signature on at least a daily basis to keep track of things so that emoticon is probably a good indication of what my face looked like when I tried to log in and couldn't!

    Hi Can i join?

Im Sarah and saving with my oh for our deposit :) We rented for 2 years but have moved in with my parents to save up, we also have a little girl who is nearly 6wks old.

So far we have £4330 saved - our aim is £10k and to have it by 29/09/09 - OH's 21st birthday.

We are (from this month) putting in £1000 of OHs wages into our savings - He gets £1250 net basic + any overtime. I get £360 Maternity allowance a month and we also get the £80 a month child benefit. We have paid off £1100 of our overdraft and aim to get this to disappear over the months - i am more motivated by putting £££s in a savers than taking £££s off our overdraft in one go so doing it slowly - just feels like ive thrown money away iykwim!

Whats everyone doing to earn a little extra? I am not working as got my baby to look after but paid surveys and the like might be good to get a bit of extra? Also how do you get money from these cashback sites like quidco?

Welcome to the thread!:D Congrats on the fairly new arrival!

I do paid surveys etc for a bit extra but it's mostly vouchers for rewards, although I redeem the odd cheque from Dooyoo and some of the survey sites do pay in cash. Don't expect a huge amount though!

I don't use Quidco so can't advise there but I'm sure others on the thread will be able to.

I absolutely do NOT. DH on the other hand sneaks acouple of quid a week from his part of our budget for a scratchcard/lotto ticket. He's an optimist and I'm a pessimist...:D

I refer to take the same money, in 20p pieces and save it, like mad. 20ps build up surprisingly quickly :)
