Another £22.50 into my house fund from babysitting last night has bumped my house savings to over £500 for the month and just over 2%.
A good start to my debt free, saving for a house deposit life if I do say so myself!!:D

Hello everyone! I have been a regular over at the "how much can you save" post and have just been directed to here!
I am saving a £20k deposit for my first home. Im currently living with my parents and paying £150 per month board and lodgings so i can save a fair amount each month. Unfortunately i just split up with my girlfriend so i gotto do it all myself
But enough with the doom and gloom. I hope you will accept me into your deposit saving clan and we can all encourage each other throughout 2009 (and prolly beyond cos im bound to take longer)Mortgage Free 22/03/17

Hi Jimlad and squish and all other newbies,:hello:
Welcome to the thread! Keep us posted with how you are all getting on.
the OH and I have the next two week off work so are going to do a recky around the area in which we eventually want to buy. (Nottinghamshire...west bridgford, Southwell and surrounding villages, keyworth and suurrounds.. not sure yet.. if any of you know these areas, what do you think?)
It'll be interesting to see whats available and get a feel for the areas. We've already done 2 visits last year so building up a bit of a picture.
ps Jimlad, whats the sealed pot challenge?!?£2019 in 2019 #44 - 864.06/20190 -
Sorry butterfly, but I can't help you as I am right down on the south coast.
However, I am going to nick your idea and ask if anyone has any thoughts on the Spalding areas and surrounding villages....and don't say wet, flood, drains, potatoes, bulbs etc.;)0 -

Its from the debt free wannabe forum. I will get you a link when i get home in a couple of hours.
Bascially we all have sealed pots that you have to break to open and we put spare change in there that wont be missed.
At the end of the year, you break it open and bask in the glory of the accumulated moneyMortgage Free 22/03/17

Jimlad, I kind of do this already with my pigsback piggybank! All change goes in and it does mount up! Its only a small piggybank and when its full I bank it.. but better in the bank earning interest than sat in your sealed pot earning nothing for a year!!
OldMcdonald, I don't really know the area but grew up not a million miles from there. I used to have horses and ponies and go to the spalding gymkhana and show!! I remember it being very nice... but that was a long long time ago! I'd love to go back to lincolnshire tho! One of the reason I fancy nottingham is the easy access to lincs - keeping a horse their will be so much cheaper than down south.£2019 in 2019 #44 - 864.06/20190
