OK, so in my last post I said we thought we had found something, but we cannot comply with the AOC requirments :(. I was meant to see something today but the agent cancelled ....:(. Still saving but its spring and like the aging bird I am, I have a nesting instinct.

I'm a lurker on the "how much can you save thread" and thought I'd amble over here to say hello. I'm usually too busy to post regularly (another busy day, another lot of dollar!) but I'll definitely keep calling in.

I'm 22. Not exactly learning masses of money but still living at home and paying £100 a month board to my ever-enduring Mum. That means that while I don't earn a lot, I also don't have many outgoings.

The main outgoing I do have is football... and a season ticket at £379 plus ~£25 a ticket whenever we go away from home isn't exactly cheap. Throw in pints and dirty burgers and you're talking a big expense.

My OH is 24. Earns more than me but runs a car which he bought with a loan. While I save money, he spends it and he's also a football fan.

But a major breakthrough this week means he's actually going to sit down with me and budget so it feels like we're actually getting somewhere and can make some clear targets.

I am extremely lucky, as my Mum made sure that an endowment policy was paid for me every week which matured on my 21st birthday, which really started my savings on their way. I really want to be in a position to look for houses by my 25th birthday so that's 27 months to go and by my calculations, we already have 44% of our total goal deposit already in place.

This is mainly in cash ISAs which I try and juggle as often as practical to ensure the best rate... which at the moment isn't much. Most of my calculations don't actually take interest into account so whatever minimal amount we get is a bonus.

So that's my little intro :) Wish me luck!

I fear that the amount of interest being paid on savings will be the least of a our worries in the not too distant future. Inflation sucks.
