    hi guys

I am joining this thread as I hope this will be a reality soon.

I found my dream home today http://www.primelocation.com/for-sale/details/38512934#WTDAlrlpyK3j3bg1.97 right area etc, great condition but the problem is the price!

We could afford a £200,000 mortgage (as an IFA i work with an independent mortgage broker) and family will help with the deposit. I have £3,000 in savings but still paying off some credit. Will be debt free by end July 2016 and therefore will then be able to save c£1,000 a month.

    Thanks guys

I think seeing your dream home can be the best motivation there is for saving hard for a deposit. How much are you hoping to save?

    Hi

We need £10,000 really. We are being helped by family but they haven't committed an amount yet.

We also have debt to pay off before we get to that stage - mine is pretty much there but DH's has some way to go.

We have done very well. I have paid off nearly £19K in 18 months, with now savings out weighing debt (its all on 0% cards or fixed term loans which the penalty for overpaying is high!) but DH still has £8k to go.

We also moved from the bright lights of London to the wonderful West Country. This cost a fair old bit but I am making headway to get us back on track. We have done well in cutting down out food budget but fingers crossed we will get there soon.

Had my AIP with halifax done yesterday so we have that to be able to start looking at houses! This is SO exciting. x

Me and my Partner are First Time buyers and manage to save £96,192 so far and should be able to add another 3k by the end of year before we complete on are first home. We Wanted to hit 100k as a nice round figure but looks like we will be a bit short for that.

We been saving for nearly 5 years and we are buying in Exeter, which is really expensive, with prices up since we first looked 5 years ago.

    Update:

Well I managed to saving around £900 this month which brings my grand savings total to £24,000. Really happy! Still a long way from my target but it seems to be building up nicely at least.

Ideally, would like to get to £25k by the end of November but I've got Xmas presents to buy (definitly not leaving them last minute this year). I have a dentist appointment coming up and also a week off work which is always expensive.

I really need to thing about saving for a new car too. Its really difficult because I don't want to lower the amount I put into my house deposit savings each month and I don't want to use my house deposit savings to buy a car and rebuilding. I think I need to think of some new ways to earn some extra income towards a car.

Anyway, seeings as I've passed another £1,000 time to treat myself :rotfl:It doesn't seem five minutes since I last treated myself :T

    See you next month!
House Deposit: £28,000 and still saving!
