  • Well it's been a tighter month than I expected to be budgeting for - after juggling some money around from different savings pots to cover an unexpected birthday celebration, I've stashed £400 into the pot, taking my deposit savings to just over £2k.

It's a great feeling to get over each thousand pound number :D hope everyone is getting on well with their saving plans :)

Oh how exciting! Fingers crossed for some Tara house news soon.

I'm plodding on with the saving and checking right move hourly. Somehow it' s getting easier to save now as I've adjusted to a thrifty lifestyle and I'm motivated by the progress I've made. I think this is a permanent change in my outlook.

    Hey all,

Reached £23,000 for this month :T, would have got there earlier but had a week off work and a few other expenses. Still, I'm proud it's only taken about 5ish weeks to save £1,000 since my last update.

If I continue at the rate I am, I hope to reach £24k by the end of October. Obviously Xmas is coming up soon too so will be putting some aside each week until then (last year I totally took it out my deposit fund and it took ages to build it back up to what it was before Xmas!) :rotfl:

I still have no real time frame about when I want to start looking to buy. My area isn't too badly priced at the minute, but I think when I do decide, I want to move to the next town/city to me (more lively than my current 'dead end' town, and to be honest, i've been dying to leave this town since returning from Uni four years ago:D) All in all, I'm happy to keep on saving for a little while longer and will be opening the H2B ISA in December.

Another issue in the future is that I'm wanting to buy a new car in the not to distant. I really need to factor in about how I'm going to do this. Do I take it from my deposit fund? Do I save seperate for a car and therefore 'slowdown' my deposit saving? Need to create some sort of action plan for that. Hoping to have enough saved by Spring 2016.

Tara - I like to treat myself after I've saved up to £1,000. It's not much just something like £20 to blow on myself (takeaway, scented candle, luxury shower gel etc). I feel like I deserve it as i'm doing it all by myself and it gives me motivation to carry on to the next £1,000 :rotfl:
House Deposit: £28,000 and still saving!

I think it is a good idea to buy a little treat as a reward.:)
