Hi All,
Update from me. Those who are feeling disgruntled, do not dispair. I feel your pain but it will be very satisfying once you see te figures stack up.
Right now, I'm going to sto saving for atleast the next 3 months and I will start again in December. I have got a new job but it's in a new area (Croydon) that will take me over 2.5 hr to commute one way! While this is bad news for the savings plan, it has given myself and the boyfriend a chance to live together. We have been together for 6yrs and this move feels natural as we have been planning for the big move together only that it has come a good 12months ahead of schedule.
We plan on renting for at least 6 months while we get to know the area. Our fear is investing in a property in an area that we not familiar with and later hating it. It would a nightmare if we commited to it by buying.
I have drawn up a budget and we will still be able to save about £800 a month. I plan on keeping my salary for the next two months in an easy access account to cover rental deposit, estate agent fees and and 2 months rent. We will spend very little on my transport so we plan on concentrating on BFs transport. He will have to drive 20miles each way to work so we are looking near the M25 for a quick hop into Kent.
We will get rid of one car and we will keep only one. We just need one car as I plan on taking the train or bus to work.0 -

That is good, I am 19 and wish I had saved the £7,000 I paid on rent and bills before I moved back in with my dad. I am saving 70% of any income I get/ earn. I am not renting again, unless I really have to. Going to stay put here a couple of years. As annoying as my dad can be, bless him.0 -
After achieving my target and talking with rents, I'm going to stay at home to save more £££££££
Currently have £41k saved personally and gift of £20k from grandparents.
My target is to increase my salary from £22k to £30k and save £26k (£1k every pay packet 4 weeks) in two years.
By which time I'll be 24, house prices will be the same price (I hope!) and I can afford my ideal house in a fantastic area! I could afford a £240,000 property in a nice area of London, 2 bedrooms, good location, garden ect
Let the new saving target begin"No likey no need to hit thanks button!":pHowever its always nice to be thanked if you feel mine and other people's posts here offer great advice:D So hit the button if you likey:rotfl:0 -

The only saving grace is my parents have a big house and take several long holidays a year so at times it does feel like I live alone plus looking at my savings grow makes it all worth it0
