That's great! I couldn't bear living at home, plus it was too far to commute anyway...imagine how rich I'd be if I could *dreams*
Well I LOVED having my own flat, but the thought of parting with £380 a month, when I could just stay with my dad and save for my OWN house just made me move back
My dad annoys me too, but I am grateful for everything he has done for me. He is a brilliant dad. That plus the face he works 6am-5pm weekdays, so i dont see him when im at home often0 -
Hi...this will be my last post on this board. I know I haven't been very regular for a while but I just wanted to pop back and let everyone know that we have finally got to the end of our journey and have exchanged contracts on a lovely house. We expect to complete on Friday and move in on Saturday. We ended up giving a just over 20% deposit. Just wanted to report our success to maybe help inspire people who are struggling with the savings slog - I know there were times when I nearly gave up!Mortgage (original/ current):193,000 (23/09/11)/ £102,500 (07/11/2019)

After achieving my target and talking with rents, I'm going to stay at home to save more £££££££
Currently have £41k saved personally and gift of £20k from grandparents.
My target is to increase my salary from £22k to £30k and save £26k (£1k every pay packet 4 weeks) in two years.
By which time I'll be 24, house prices will be the same price (I hope!) and I can afford my ideal house in a fantastic area! I could afford a £240,000 property in a nice area of London, 2 bedrooms, good location, garden ect
Let the new saving target begin
Not to sound down but where in London are you hoping for?Mortgage Balance £182,789.00 of £259,250.00 Overpayment Total £48,847.13

That is for an average 2-3 bedroom with a big garden
 Yes, London really is that expensive. I think £240k for a decent part of town is reasonable, but you won't be very central.top 2013 wins: iPad, £50 dental care, £50 sportswear, £50 Nectar GC, £300 B&Q GC; jewellery, Bumbo, 12xPringles, 2xDiesel EDT, £25 Morrisons, £50 Loch Fyne
would like to win a holiday, please!!

Well I'm hoping to be buying a home in a few years and I'm saving like mad, but 2 bedrooms in London for less than £300,000? I doubt it would be a fantastic area, or even a house for that matter. Most likely a ex local authority estate flat.
I live quite close to the centre near Tower Bridge and my flat is about £300,000 and thats a one bedroom with tiny balcony.
I work in the City and Id not want to live too far out of that so I can walk to work (much cheaper than train tickets) houses/flats for less than £300,000 are likely to be in areas like Elephant & Castle, White Chapel and then heading more east and south.
Not the kind of areas you'd want to stagger home at 11pm drunk, from after work drinks
I look on Rightmove all the time and seeing what I will have to settle for to live in a nice area here is depressing, the rest of the country looks like Aldi by comparision (full of bargains)Mortgage Balance £182,789.00 of £259,250.00 Overpayment Total £48,847.13

Sadly £240k in London = a 2 bedroom flat in the 'burbs! But it is possible in one of two types of areas: "edgy" or "boring" (ie quite a long way out)0 -

Not long ago here £250,000 was the price of a 5 bedroom house joined onto a 5 acre field.
That being said it was a repossesion which needed £50,000 of work. But 250k for a 2 bed flat is way over my limit0 -
