Hi folks, just looking for some advice.
I am travelling to the eurozone, then im travelling on to sweden. So i need euros and swedish kronor.
However, i dont want to get half and half as i dont know what proportion of cash i will spend in each location. I also dont want to take a hit converting to euro, then converting extra to kroner and then possibly converting some unused back resulting in 3 poor exchange rates and comission etc.
What is the most economical way of taking two forms of currency?
Ps.
I have an rbs debit card and credit card.0 -

Ideally thats what id like to do. However, RBS debit card is listed under "cards from hell"
RBS Debit Card
Spending penalty: £1.25. Exchange load: 2.75%. Cash Withdrawal fee: 2% min £2 max £50 -

oops sorry - reading the wrong list of 'doesn't charge' - I was looking at the one for buying currency here with the card.
In that case - take the cash you actually think you will need - or maybe a bit less - and bite the bullet on the charges if you run out.0 -
Going to Majorca for a week soon, I was wondering whether it will work out better to take travellers cheques, Euros that I have got over here or take my debit card and draw out approx 50 euro as & when i need it, the same as I would use if I was cashing a travellers cheque.
PLease advise me as Im lost as to what is best to do, I bank with the Halifax.

It would be a very bad idea to withdraw 50€ at a time from the Halifax - they charge a fixed fee so it would be a very high % of the amount withdrawn.
Either take a larger sum out, say 200€ minimum, or take cash. If you take ££ you can minimise the amount of left over €€ you have.
Personally I wouldn't bother with TCs but some swear by them. (Others swear at them:rotfl: )0
