I need to get a 2000 euro cheque drawn up. I've always done it via my bank (nationwide) before and paid about £25 for the priveledge. Is there a better way?

£25 is on the high side - try another bank. I'd guess you'd still be looking at £15 - 20 though
  • What is the general view on rates, I'm not sure whether to buy now or wait a few weeks before I go to Europe.

    That's online.

In a Post Office it's less - 1.18 something on Thursday for pre-order

Posted this below but just reliased this thread was here and may get a quicker response

Hope you can help me with this, my poor brain is haddled.

I need £1100 currency this week. 500 in Euros and £600 I was going to load onto a pre paid card. I only have LLoyds TSB Debit cards to pay with which usually card me for curency purchases. I was looking at using the Post Office as I need the money quickly so no time really for delivery ( going away next weekend).

If I buy the currency in store ( in cash) and buy the card online will I still be charged for the online card loading? Is this the cheapest way to do it?

I fear my head may explode sometime today, the more I look the more confused I get

    Thanks in advance

    Foy

    Oh.. :o
So how do I get it at that rate? Order online for delivery to home/local branch, or is it more complicated than that?

I've got time to order - going to Ireland on 31st Aug.

That rate is if you go into a branch that doesn't stock currency, order it for next day delivery (no extra charge, to the branch) and pay up front.
  • In the spirit of experience sharing, i ordered currency (Euros) from these guys on Saturday. I called them this morning to check everything was Ok and asked wether it would be delivered today or tomorrow (I was sat waiting for the delivery you see). Was assured that it would be delivered today. 45 minutes later, phone call saying that they could not verify my ID and it would definately be tomorrow!!!!!!

Hows about that for one hand not talking to the other.

Cancelled the order, going to pre order at the postoffice!!!!!!

    Good grief!
One by one the penguins steal my sanity.
