I have 1000 Euros I want to convert back to Pounds. Where is the best place to do this currently. I know in the past M&S usually have the best rates?
ThanksI can offer no resistance, I can offer no respite

Do you know anyone who is going away and needs euros? You could split the difference between buying and selling rates and both make a bit of money! :beer:0 -
Buy Euros now, or wait until right before you go, if you were going away in the first week of October?
Is it worth hanging on to see if the exchange rate goes upTank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
You are right - the subject has been done to death, and a quick look through the Euro currency thread would have confirmed this.
The quick answer is: nobody knows - if we did, we'd all be playing the currency markets to our advantage and retire as millionaires.0 -

Nobody knows what they would do
That's what I asked, 'what would you do?'.
I'll have a look through the Euro thread now.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
Hmmmmm
If you want a personal opinion I would wait, not because I have any info about the money markets but just because patience is a virtue.
Unless you are dealing in ten of thousands of pounds the odd cent fluctuation is'nt going to make a huge difference to what you get for your money.
all the best

OK - what would I do? I would do what I do every time I go on holiday if I require foreign currency. Unless rates were currently at an all time high, I would buy it a few days before I was travelling and not worry about what the exchange rate was doing in the meantime as (as mr bear says) it really would not have a massive impact on my spending money unless I was changing vast quantities.
Someone else may come along and say 'buy now'.
It doesn't really matter what any of us would do, exchange rates go up and down so it is just what you feel most comfortable doing that matters.
Anyone that says they can predict exchange rates with a high degree of accuracy is either fibbing or already extremely rich and reading this forum from the deck of their private yacht0 -
Thanks everyone!
I don't mind waiting, but I've had the holiday savings there for a while now and keep dipping into it
P.S. Is it just me who doesn't ever notice the stickies at the top, even though they are the first threads you come to on a board?Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0
