There's no one best place. Depends on where you are, what cards you hold and in some cases where you are going. And if you are willing to obtain new cards to get a better deal.
Even if you have an asnwer there is nothing to say that someone on your local High Street might have a better deal than on its Head Office website to beat the local competition
Click the travel transport link above and read what it has to say.0 -
Recently I went with relatives to Benidorm they exchanged money at a Domo exchange kiosk on Gerona in the Ricon de loix area of Levante beach. The sign on the pavement had in large figures an exchange rate of 1.26 euros to the pound so they went in and asked if it was correct the lady in the booth confirmed that the rate was currently 1.26 and their was no comission to be paid. They promptly handed over 100 pound and were extremly suprised to recieve only 106 euros thinking she'd miss-counted they pointed out this fact and she promtly pointed to A small list of exchage rates where the pound was worth 106 euro when asked for a refund they pointed to another sign saying that they don't do refunds. An arguement started during which her English deteriated at an unbelieveable rate . My relatives sought advice from the tourist infomation and called the police who came out but said they weren't breaking any laws and they couldn't do anything. All that could be done was a complaint form filled in and left with the authorities but no refund and they ended up 20 euros down. I myself exchanged some sterling for euros just 1 street away on Avinguda L'Amentlla De Mar namer at a small kiosk inside a shop the lady there was English and I did get 1.25 to the pound paying no commision. After speaking to other holidaymakers who exchanged at the same 'DOMO' office they all got the same low rate one lady changed 300 pound lossing 60 euros on the deal. I don't know if their is any more of these DOMO kiosk but best bet is to steer clear of them at all cost.0

Somewhere in there theres an exchange office near victoria station in London which appears to offer the best rate for cashIWasLookingBackToSeeIfSheWasLookinBackToSeeIfIWasLookinBackAtHer.....0 -
Not sure if this has been covered but I have just purchased my holiday cash from Thomas Cook - they have a special rate for £2000 and above. I got 1.236 exchange rate. Yes I could have got better, but even Travelex, my normal supplier were at 1.22.
I know they match but they have closed down at Manchester airport.0 -
I have checked out the travel money link provided but it didn't answer my question so to speak so I wonder if someone could. I changed 1,070euros last week at an Intercash in Croydon and got £821 for it. I will need to change about the same again next week and wondered if there is an online tool I can use to find out where I should be going for the best rate as I think I should have got closer to £845??DEBT FREE AND LOVING LIFE0

The travelmoney link is about buying euros, not selling them - the selling rate is always worse than the buying. I don't know of any online comparison site for selling.
The 1.3 you got is not that bad.0 -

Thanks Dzug, I was going by XE figures to get the £845. TBH I have always used the same intercash and have always felt I was getting the best deal. Thanks for confirming this.DEBT FREE AND LOVING LIFE0
