    Hi,

I've been looking at the exchange rate which this year isn't at all good at the moment. I'm hearing that people are prefering to exchange whilst on holiday for a better rate.

I always like to have my euros changed before I go only because I don't want to be searching round for the best rate. That's just me though. So you will probally get a better rate over there.

    Have a great holiday

Im usually one of the 1st people to jump on a "how will the exchange rate change" posts with witty tales of barry the nigerian squirell and dubloons etc, however the OP is asking if they would be better of buying their money here or over there, not what the money markets are going to do in the future.

I'm sorry if I sound rude but have you actually read any of the information on this thread or for that matter looked at any of the travel money articles in the resource bar?

I have been reading the information, there is so much which is great. I just thought a summary may be useful for a particular country, being a novice!

yep, and truth is, no-one really knows !

but for a bit of holiday money, there isn't going to be much in it whether they do it her or spain, especially as OP is off on sunday, so only has 4 days to decide.

For this question, somebody will know, as they are not asking when they will get the best deal, but where.

When I was in the US I got a marginally better rate withdrawing cash on my Barclays debit card (couldn't find my Nationwide one!) from one of the banks within the network that Barclays uses, than the best rate at an FEx here. I took $50 with me and then used Bank of America ATM's whenever I needed cash.

It is worth checking if your bank is part of a network which allows commission free use of ATM's overseas x
    Gone ... or have I?

The information applies equally to all destinations, most references are to the Euro.

hmmmm, how exactly will someone know all the exchange rates offered at all the exchange bureaus or banks over here and all the ones over in spain?

not being picky, but it really doesnt matter a great deal if its done her, or there - you are talking a matter of a couple of euros either way, which really isn't worth worrying about

BUT, being in england, i personally would feel alot happier doing it before i went, rather than some dodgy local place in a coastal spanish town
    thats all!!

unless this person is going to a main spanish city
