...that doesn't involve onion? Had a bit of a disaster this morning, waking up to a flat which stunk of onion, even though I hadn't had any, this promptly made me ill and now I can't think what to do for dinner. My boyfriend found out the smell was coming out through a hole in our bathroom wall from one of the other flats
I've got chicken breasts out of the freezer, have lots in the store cupboard (toms, flour, beans of different sorts etc), peas, sweetcorn in the freezer, dwarf beans, spinach, eggs and bacon in the fridge and potatoes. Any ideas would be welcome as I won't be cooking until after 6pm so have time to prepare.Grocery budget in 2023 £2279.18/£2700Grocery budget in 2022 £2304.76/£2400Grocery budget in 2021 £2107.86/£2200Grocery budget in 2020 £2193.02/£2160Saving for Christmas 2023 #15 £ 90/ £3650 -

Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.0 -
you could wrap the chicken in bacon and cook it, put the tomatoes in a pan with the spinach and make some sauted potatoes. I did this for my OH one day, without the spinach in the toms and he loved itSealed Pot Challenge Member 1216 -

Chicken breast wrapped in bacon, with cheese on if you have some, yummy, serve with chips/rosti/saute potatoes and veg (maybe some sauce, dianne, barbeque etc if you have it)
or maybe
Italian chicken, basically chicken in bolognese style sauce, without onion or course, serve with pasta if you have some
Chicken chilli, again without onions (use some of the beans up)
I'm used to cooking without onions as DPs brother comes for dinner a lot and he doesn't like them, all of the above are nice without onion. One day I might be more organised...........

I've decided to add Moneysaving Old Style to my daily 'check whats going on' threads. I've been loitering for a bit and now would like to steal some advice!
Yesterday the £5 skinless chicken fillets were reduced to £3ish so I bought about 6 packs!! Now 5 are in me freezer and one pack is waiting for me to serve something fantastic to my family, but I'm stuck! I didn't buy any stir-in sauces as I thought I'd use my imagination....but I've now realised I don't have one!
Don't really have lots in my cupboards and my grill doesn't work!!
Any suggestions for different sauces or ways of preperation would be greatly appreciated as were gna be eating chicken for weeks!!
Thank you in advance!! :money:I'm getting older, and lifes getting harder!:mad:0 -
We`re having them for tea, what i`m doing is putting a sausage and a bit of stuffing with them, then wrapping bacon round them. Then cooking in oven with some roast potatoes.
I also sometimes buy a can of cambells condensed soup, cook off a couple of the breasts, cut them up, add the soup then make into a pie.0 -
put some cheese in, wrap with ham or bacon and cook in the oven. my family's favourite!0

Brown them then add stock and cream and simmer for 20 minutes and thicken. Could also add mushrooms. Lovely with roast potatoes and veg.0

lay a centimetre of mixed up stuffing over the top and wrap bacon over the top, reallynice0

We go through loads of chicken, this is what we mainly do with it
Chicken fajitas
Chicken enchilladas
Italian chicken (same sauce as spag bol)
Chicken in gravy (as a dinner)
Chicken stuffed with cheese, wrapped in bacon then served with diane, peppercorn or bbq sauce
Chicken nuggets (easy just dip in egg then roll in breadcrumbs, or can batter them)
Chicken kebabs
Chopped chicken in mayo with sweetcorn (lovely in sandwiches or on baked spuds) Chicken battered in tempura battter with sauce, veg and riceOne day I might be more organised...........
