  • I delivered 500 bks on Monday there.Had 2 do 2 runs out 2 collect the bks.The moneys not as gd as it used 2 be,i did it about 2 yrs ago and got 22p a bk now the companys only paying 16p a bk but then the bks are smaller and therefore easier 2 handle.Took me about 6hrs 2 deliver bks for £69 which wasnt 2 bad.Had a handy route in town with no farms and very few flats.
  • I had 800 yellow pages to deliver and will get paid £118 - it took me a full weekend to deliver them - a lot of hard work but I think I would do it again - every penny helps.

I work as a team leader for DEYA the company that does YP (only for a week once or twice a year) Payments are broken down in to 2 sections, 1 for how many books you deliver and another for fuel. It is supposed to be above minimum wage but that depends on how long you take to deliver! The company knows from previous experience what is a reasonable time to finish the route and deliverers are asked to every time to keep the info updated.

I guess the easiest routes are terraced streets which mean you can get rid of lots of books without stairs or driveways. It is hard work, I deliver a route myself but goodness, when you need the dosh you might as well do something as sit and worry.

One word of warning - don't overload your car. I did and paid dear for new shock absorbers.

What amazes me is how many parents of teens do it and their useless offspring are too lazy to help mum or dad.

Last year I was amazed to be getting plumbers and electricians delivering, this year its the finance guys in rather nice cars that have turned up. Sign of the times!

The only people I do not like are those that say they will turn up on the day and do a route then they fail to show. How selfish!I frankly wouldn't care if a doctor or a farrier turned up, it's not for me to judge but it is interesting to take a broader view of the applicants.

After the route is finished, it is submitted then route checked. It is only after this is finished (about a week after everyones routes are finished that the cheques can be processed and that can indeed take another 2 weeks. You can get jobs doing routechecking from home (you need BT line rental to do this). Easier than shifting the books but I have no idea what the pay is like. I get approx 250 for doing the team leading though mileage and phone calls are on top.
  • wow, I live in London and would love to do this. I have a car and we have no famrs here (well one or 2, but not in my area), where do you find out about it ?

Its amazing how much stuff you CAN get in a fiesta. Take the rear seat backs out (torx nut) and a few 8mm bolts to get the passenger seat out. It is truly astonishing how much you can get in then! :D
Proud of who, and what, I am. :female::male:

you would be liable for tax and should declare it
though you wont have to pay income tax as you are below your tax threshhold

one thing to consider when doing these deliveries is fuel costs
i filled up yesterday at £1/11/litre so it all goes into the costs
plus most will not be covered by their car insurance for using their car for work
