Delivering phonebooks/yellow pages
Comments

I have recently just done the Thomson local books in my area.
1444 books split into 2 rounds (7p per book). I used my vehicle which was a fiesta and fitted all the books/bundles in my car as these books are smaller than yellow pages in one journey.
I went out in the sun parked my car with loads of books in and filled a bag like a paper round bag and done all my area. I have now finished a week ago and waiting to recieve payment.
I am wondering how long does payment take? To those who have done this before.0 -
Delivering Yellow Pages? My words of advice are check your route before you accept. Man on the phone said he did one in 4 hours - we've done 7.5 hours (2 of us) (including collecting books) and still not finished.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. I am thinking of doing this, will be 640 books for 114 pounds.
How many am i likely to fit in a estate car.
Howlong will it take to deliver.
Anyone know please.sonnyboy0 -
I delivered yellow pages when my children were small. The rules then were that if there was no one home to accept the book and if you couldn't fit it through the letter box, (which you couldn't as they were too big), you were either supposed to hide them somewhere leaving a note or return to deliver again. As i delivered during the day, a lot of the time people were out. It took ages sometimes to deliver, especially with long drive ways or paths. Personally, i wouldn't do yellow pages again. Thompsons are ok as they go through the letter boxes, but the pay is much less than yellow pages. Times have probably changed now as i seem to get mine just chucked over the gate, which is so annoying when its raining, it just gets chucked into the bin then as it is runied.0

I think the round I had was around 600 books for similar pay. I just about got them all in an estate with the back seats down and them piled on the passenger seat. It depends how thick they are - these were around 3cm.
Mine was a rural area - a village centre then all the surrounding farms. It was supposed to take 16 hours but I reckon it took two of us about 6hours. I knew the area really well though.
The farms were a pain in the neck but the village was really easy.
I could carry 8 at a time and hubby would drive the car along with the boot open stopping every eighth house for me to reload, then we swapped over every 30mins or so.0 -
I delivered Yellow Pages couple of years ago got roughly 15p per book for 800 books was a lot harder than I had expected it to be and took a lot longer as it was rural area I really would not consider it again unless I had use of a large van to collect them all in and use for delivering(my poor wee fiesta hasnt been the same since lol) think I managed roughly about 150books each trip. As someone else already mentioned it does help to plan out your route! HTH x0

For those of you using your own car to deliver phone books (or anything) - don't forget that you are legally obliged to tell your insurers what you are doing. Don't expect your ordinary car insurance policy to cover you!0

My book always gets left at the door, no attempt to hide it or leave a note, just left on the doorstep.
I lived in a block of 6 flats for over 10 years, and found we were a dumping ground for anything that gets delivered.
Even though it was clear that there were only 6 flats in the block we'd get 30-40 yellow pages, 30-40 phone books, 30-40 copies of the local free paper and hundreds of copies of any leaflets!
There is no doubt in my mind that anyone being paid to deliver things uses multi-occupancy building as an excuse to get rid of a lot.0 -
If you deliver yellow pages you get a list of addresss so you do know how many books to deliver to where.
If you do it properly that is, also someone checks up by phone after to see if peole have recieved a book.sonnyboy0 -
I have just done this and I had 660 books and took me two journeys with an estate car.
I found that it works out at well below min wage when you add up petrol costs, time for collecting the books and delivering. I dont think I would be in a hurry to do it again. The organisation leaves a lot to be desired and you have to wait at least 3 weeks to get paid.
Good Lucksonnyboy0
