I did the thompson books a couple of yrs ago. got paid £70. I had to collect the books myself. I took a friends van. The books filled the van completely cant remember how many there were. Had to get someone to help me in the end so only ended up with £35. WOULDNT DO IT AGAIN0 -
I am about to sign up to do this yellow Pages Delivery - 770 books for £110 - This is residential, no flats, no driving to speak of, -does anyone know how many hours it is likely to take?
Thanks
PS my first post so hope i haven screwed things up!0 -
ive done the Yellow Pages for a few years now, if you get an easy round your quids in, my SIL learned the hard way
The best part i like is watching the bundles go down0 -
Well I did it, I had an easy round, 800 books and I modified a shopping trolley (not tesco type but "ol lady get you in the shins type" ) to help.
If you add the hours up, including collection of books and returning left overs etc then it worked out about min wage (ish).
1 tip, collect more books than on your list as I was short and had to go to a local warehouse to collect approx 40 more to finish the job. (although they said i should be compensated for this)
2 Think about it as an easy way to make a bit extra rather than how it compares to other jobs - This is a "one hit job"
3 Enjoy it, i had a laugh - You meet some strange folk.
Example
Me: "Hi (pause) yellow pages!
Customer : "Not more bl**dy junk for the recycling, how many trees died for this? You lot should be ashamed of yourself......"
Me: "Ok so you don't one want then...no problem"
Customer: I didn't say that now did I
Me: there you go.
Customer: Could I have two ? they get a bit dog eared after a while !
Me: (smile)
4. It took about 18hrs (guesstimate)
I would do it aagain but be sure to try and get a good round.
I was offered one that was on Double Red line bus route (strictly no stopping)so this would have been difficult and taken much longer0 -

I've applied for the Thompson's... we'll see if they reply0

Just got a phone call from Yellow Pages woman asking if I still wanted to do a round. Said yes. There's 546 books and she said it paid around £76. Not too bad. Every little helps as Tesco keep saying0

Congrats- heard nothing after intial applying frm Thompsons, and we haven't recieved ours yet
What's your round like?0 -
It took a long time before I heard anything from the Yellow Pages people. In fact when my husband passed me the phone and said who it was I was really surprised and wondered what on earth they wanted me for! Memory like a sieve!
The round is the other side of my village. No hills, flats or anything thats too difficult. I'm going to try and rope my daughter into helping out then she can earn some money herself. It might make her realise money doesn't grow on trees like she thinks it does and things have to be worked for.0
