Hi all, I hope this hasn't already been posted but there are jobs available at the moment to deliver BT phonebooks and there were some for Yellow pages a couple of weeks ago (we applied and are starting deliveries next week  ) - they have to be delivered within a two week period.
I thought it might be useful for some of you as it seems hard work but flexible, the site I applied through is -
http://www.pdcuk.co.uk/recruitment/deliveries/individual/areas.asp
You have to be at least 17 with suitable transport.

How much do you get paid?
Ive just appliedDooyoo fund: £14.26

On the site it says pay depends on the route you get so I'm not exactly sure, should find out more Wednesday when we pick ours up. I doubt it will be a huge amount but we need to all we can get at the moment + the exersize will do us good!0

Hello all
I delivered Thompson local last year. They told me on average it was about minimum wage. This wasn't the case for me, it was well below, I did have children in tow though. I got paid just under £100.00 for delivering 1500 books. It was during the childrens holiday from school and they helped and enjoyed it most of the tme and it got me out of the house and I got plenty of excercise.
A friend of mine did Yellow Pages. I think you might get around £100.00 per 1000 for those. If there are a couple of adults doing the rounds or you don't have time constraints (like children!!) you'll probably get it done much quicker than me and maybe it will be around the minimum wage mark.
By the way, I had to collect the Thompson locals form a pick up point about 5 miles away, so that eats into your time aswell. Just for a guide - I have an Astra - with the back seat down I managed to get around 750 books in so took two trips. I also had to store them in my house. They took up all of the downstairs hallway.
Apparently some people do it year after year. If you like to get out and about I suppose its ok. I wouldn't do it again at the moment. But I might consider it when the kids are older.
Happy delivering. Hope this helps.0 -
Just had another thought. I had an old pram, so I got that out and took it with me. I would park up, fill the pram (got about 70 in it) and push that around my round. I managed to get a round that included my street and the immediate area. That was pretty easy especially with the pram. See if you can get yourself one or something similar so you don't have to keep going back to the car.0

Me and my husband did both Yellow Pages and BT phone books 2 years running a few years ago. Yes you do need to collect them, we had a small van at time, so not a problem. Yes you do need room to store them, we stored them in our garage, and even to this day, we suffer from an aversion to the colour Yellow - being faced with a wall of them:).
We did them in the school hols, and our children did help, and it was fun and good excercise - but as a way of making money- not that good for the effort involved.
Oh, and no, I won't be doing it again:)keep smiling,

we're in the middle of doing the BT book. We have two rounds, about 880 books and 10p per book. Blooming hard work, OH did 400 yesterday and took about 5.5 hours. We have the chance of some more rounds but no thanks, only just minimum wage, less petrol etc. And it was pouring down yesterday so kept having to stop.
Still it is a good walk, and getting paid for walking is OK.
Will finish tomorrow.0 -
I went on the link http://www.pdcuk.co.uk/recruitment/deliveries/individual/areas.asp but couldn't find my area (essex, southend). Does anyone know how i can find out who i need to contact to deliver these books in my area.
