Just had a phone call to say I start in couple of weeks time, doing 469 Yellow Pages.
A question to anyone that's done this before: do any of your drive hatchbacks and how many could you [safely] fit in your car? I drive a 2006 Fiesta.
Many thanks,0 -

Not all 469 thats for sure!!! Im not sure anyone could answer you that. Just start stacking them up safely and when you cant see through your read view mirror - thats the time to stop!!!;)0 -
i'll be honest im thinking its gonna take a few trips for you.
get the boot empty and the back seat down flat
i would be tempted(got a vectra estate) if they could give me the areas my office delivers too.
much easier for me to plan as i know the streets, parking etc0 -
If postman pat doesnt know then no one will0

i think it might take you 2 or 3 trips in a fiesta. weve got a zafira and after wed let the seats down we still had to make 2 trips for 500 books.
we have done delivering for the last 2 years and although it is hard work we think it is worth the money.
last year we did 2 rounds with about 600 books in each, for £200 in total. they were local to us do petrol costs were very low. we didnt take any time off work for it- just did it around our current work/child commitments(!)
if you go to https://www.deya.co.uk and on the left hand side click "delivery dates" you can find a list of all the books going out until september.
our next local one is august, then september, so (hopefully) the weather will be better then when we did it in february...!
good luck to those who do it, and to repeat the advice ive read of someone elses on here, do take a pram or something similar to cart the books about in- its MILES easier to leave the car with 30-40 books then the 5/6 you can carry in your aching arms!(we took a fishing trolley so we could stack them on there and trot off down the street
)

thanks for that i've just applied to do our local phone book, should be easier than the yellow pages.
But the date is august.
Can anyone tell me if the person is'nt home can you just post the phone book, or do you have to had it over, as ive always had our phone book pushed through the letterbox.0 -
left on the doorstep seems modus operandi0

You will no doubt be told during your induction that, for security reasons, you must not leave the book in a position which is visible to people walking past the house. So leaving it on a doorstep is not officially acceptable (unless it were in an enclosed porch of course).0 -
finished 880 phone books a couple of weeks ago and was supposed to get 10p = £88. When we sent the papers back we advised the difficult and time consuming parts of the route and received £111.
So it is well worth querting the rate of you have a difficult route etc. We had several farms etc.
Dont lie though, cause they do know the routes and with Google Map etc they can easily check !!0
