  • I have the 21% voucher from my trip to Warrington this morning, but it specifically relates to Kitchens. Also, the girl said that if we came back another day, it would only be valid for kitchen stuff that was actually IN STOCK on that day.

There was a massive queue already at the desk (at 6.30), 6 tills going, and no quick service till for those of us with our lists on the computer, and no assistants in kitchens that weren't already swamped,to answer questions, so we are going back late tonight. Hopefully only a few locals will still be around.

    Hubby got his breakfast though!

HOWEVER, there is a little known alternative to getting up early and going into battle with the rest of the the world. SIMPLY ASK FOR THE 21% VOUCHER!!! It has not been made widely known, but because of the expectation of large numbers on sale day, Ikea staff can give you a voucher which is valid up to 4th May which gives you the full 21% discount on all purchases!

In the T&C's in the email it says the voucher is only valid for Kitchens. Would be handy if it was for everything though!!
  • Still trying to decide if I should take a trip to Ikea in Cardiff. I just couldn't be bothered to get up at stupid o'clock as I do that every day of the week.
There are a few things that I need/want/just have to have, nothing major tho! Will keep an eye on this site to see what is going on out there...well done to those of you who have had a successful trip!

I got a voucher from Ashton. If you read the t&c's on it it specifically states on the back that the voucher applies to either "cash and carry" or "distribution". I was asked which kitchen style I was going for (which was recorded in their book) and she said nothing when I told her, despite it being a style that has to be delivered.

As for the experience I was in and out by 7.30 am, got my free breakfast and brew, all the nick-nacks for the kitchen (magnetic rack, chopping board, divders - all stuff not covered by the voucher), and a new light. Saved £50 just on that stuff, and found the whole thing a breeze.

When I left the car park was full and people were circling for spaces. I dread to think what it must be like now!

I went to my local IKEA (Ashton under lyme one) I prefer the Warrington one cause I know that one better and don't get quite so lost but that would involve a further drive and I would feel like I was driving to work on a Saturday (I work near Warrington IKEA)

I think that the staff were fantastic! They were so friendly despite the fact that I heard some of them say they had been there since 3am and obviously were working alot harder today than usual. I actually had fun and didn't get trampled at all - didn't even meet any horrid fellow customers :j I wandered around the Marketplace and displays first and thought it was quite empty and assumed it was bedlam at the self serve but even that wasn't too bad!

I only got a few bits and bobs - I am just mental enough to like IKEA enough to want to go for a 6am wander anyway :p I was so tempted to get a desk that was there even though I don't desperately need one, it was just so nice looking (I know, I know) I am really skint at the moment though so I didn't actually get it - I did calculate how much it would be and actually go down and see that it was in stock, but managed to be strong :rotfl:

Got a free breakfast and tried to pay for my cup of tea only to be told that was free too!

Only downside was because it was so early I couldn't buy any Kopparberg (forgot that it was so early until I got to the till!) Got some meatballs for dinner later.

All in all, it was an enjoyable experience!

  • Hmmmm am wondering if I should brave a trip to my local store (Warrington) later this evening to get laminate flooring. But also wondering if they are going to have anything left towards the end of the day???

Anyone know if they got extra stock for today?
I may be shy, but that doesn't make me an angel ;)

I love Kopperberg too! Didn't know that Ikea sold it though. Might treat myself to a bottle tomorrow.............will prob need a drink afterwards  , plus I haven't had a drink for over a year now!

    Zippy x

Just noticed this :o its fab, they do it in cans and it works out cheaper than buying in bottles from the supermarket. Beware though because they do non-alcoholic Kopparberg too and I nearly picked that up by accident today! :rotfl:

If you do get some today - enjoy!

  • I forgot all about their flooring actually, I can possibly see a return trip on the cards.

So much for moneysaving... Being on here could have just cost me!

We went to Warrington store for 6am this morn, travelled from Chorley. Had a lovely breakfast, not rushed like i thought it would be, but after we`d eaten we went shopping. My word ! the qeues for the kitchens were circling all round that department.I don`t blame people wanting a bargain, just glad it was`nt us,lol
When we got outside again - just after 8am, there was another long line of people waiting for home delivery.
Me and hubby enjoyed ourselves this morn, but others thought we were mad !

Cardiff was fine this morning -like others quickest trip to Ikea ever. However, having to return as its GD's birthday and her mum thinks bedroom stuff would be what 'she' wants.:rotfl:

Still, had 1 free breakfast in an almost empty food hall this morning. Q's had formed by kitchens (was numero 3 in the line:j ) and bedroom areas but the rest of the store was OK. Not too many at 6 this morning

Have had a little nap to regain strength for the next visit.;)
Saved about 260 so far. Had to be sensible and not go mad - sooooooo easy to do.
[STRIKE]Fed up of being kippered by kids - new resolve - the NO word. Still at this[/STRIKE] Dam they struck again!!
Stay focused on the bigger plan -
