Got to the store at 5:40, there was only about twenty people in front of us (front got there at about 5:05). They handed out free keyrings while we waited and then opened the flood gates at 6 on the dot. By that time there was about 100 people behind us and the car park was pratically empty.
It seems that most of the others were wanting kitchens as there was about twenty in the queue after just about 1min - glad I wasn't needing kitchen stuff.
Also, I have never seen the food court completely empty before - very weird!
As we'd been the day before to get our plan and lists pre-done we all did what we planned and paid for them within half an hour. Then it took another 10 mins to get the delivery sorted and we shoud get them later on today
Only one item was not in stock in the correct colour but that's no problem - we saved about £170 pounds so I'm happy (and tired).
What is strange is that 40 mins is probably the fastest we've ever been in ikea0 -
Hi Cactushead, May I ask which store you went to?0

It took me an hour and a half door to door. I live a half hour drive from Warrington store. That included lugging 15 packs of laminate flooring off the pallet and into the car(my other half refused to get up so early!!). Probably my most pleasant Ikea trip ever. Bargain

I was there by 6.00 and saw the queue at the entrance, nipped in the exit and straight to the locations I needed. Sadly one item wasn't instock today in the colour I wanted so I hummed and hawed and chose another colour and with help from a couple of employees managed to get all but one item into my car and was in the restaurant having my free breakfast by 7.00 am. Went back through the Market Place and picked up a load of small items and now home.
Grateful thanks to all the Ikea employees who helped me this morning, lifting off the shelves and into my car. Everyone I spoke was chirpy, helpful and more than pleasant, I also made sure that my thanks were passed on to the duty manager for ALL his staff at the Edinburgh Store, they made this particular shopping trip a dream.

Turned up at our local store (Milton Keynes) at just gone six. No queue, walked in, bypassed the entire store and went straight to the self service section (already did a scouting mission earlier in the week). Got my stuff, paid, left. Quickest Ikea trip ever, especially living five minutes from the store.

Quietest Ikea trip ever!! I can't believe it....Cardiff one was quieter than a normal day, although it was only 7am! Outdoor carpark was empty, thought I'd got the wrong day. I thought it would be rammed, but it was dead, and the extra staff and full shelves made it the nicest ever trip, together with free breakfast and short queues for the tills too. The only downside would have been if you had to arrange home delivery, the queue for that was about 30-40 people deep with trolleys fully loaded.0

We went to the Edmonton store this morning.
I went on Thursday evening to make a list and locate all the items in the Warehouse. We were there at 6pm, had shopping done by 6.20, leaving enough time for free breakfast after loading the car. Boyfriend was not too happy about 5am start this morning, but a lot happier when he saw that we saved about £70 on a new table and chairs.
We left Ikea at about 7.30am. It was very very quiet. Maybe the disorder two years ago when the store first openend put people off.0 -
We went to our local IKEa store yesterday (Friday) to put together a wish list for our purchase the following day (the day of the sale). Even then the staff were busy putting up queue barriers, HOWEVER, there is a little known alternative to getting up early and going into battle with the rest of the the world. SIMPLY ASK FOR THE 21% VOUCHER!!! It has not been made widely known, but because of the expectation of large numbers on sale day, Ikea staff can give you a voucher which is valid up to 4th May which gives you the full 21% discount on all purchases! Naturally, when we had our I thought it might be conditional, BUT NO, the customer services department said it was valid because Ikea recognised that it would be virtually impossible to hold sufficient 'take away on the day' stock and a contingency needed to be in place. I hope to pop along early one morning next week - minus all the crowds - and shop at my leisure. Hope this helps everyone.0

It wasn't too busy and had to queue up for only five minutes to pay.
I got the very last set of drawers I was after but I really wanted a bookcase but didn't buy it because I couldn't have fitted both in my car.
I might pop back up there later and pick up the voucher cos it's only a 5 minute drive from me and I'll park on the nearby housing estate to avoid the traffic.Third time lucky on WW I hope :j

Would have been an excellent trip ...was there for 5.50am (Birstall)...queued but straight into self service and went to the Information point to order the bed I needed but the woman didn't have a clue and said I'd have to go to the bedroom department (should have stood my ground and made her get someone)...off I trotted to bedroom...and picked a queue....and waited....and waited!
Poor guy was totally out of his depth - he could cope with bed orders...but not wardrobes. After an hour (taking turns to wait whilst the other went and had breakfast and got other items) we asked to speak to a manager...who turned up after another 30 mins and said he was fully trained and that was that. He was then replaced by a more senior/experienced colleague who whizzed through orders.
Everything else was working like clockwork!0
