Try the new Coventry branch which is in Coventry City Centre...It's almost a pleasure to shop there, owing to the LACK of customers !!!
Openeing week bombed so I can't see that a day's sale would make much difference.
Shhhhhhhhhhhh, don't tell everyone!!!!!;)
I do hope it isn't a hectic morning though, because I have to take my two little ones now:eek:0 -

cheers
Yes it's true starting at 6am and closing at 11.55pm make sure you plan ahead before you travel from the home and stock check if you can , the stores have known this information for a while but keeping it hush so they don't loose sales in the meantime ,staff are also having a discount day with the percentage determined on what the success of the 19th is ,hope this helps !!!!!!!!!!!!!0 -
I'm going to brave the Thurrock store as I was planning on going in a fortnight anyway to get the baby gear (17 weeks preg and feeling quite well so hopefully I will manage!) also everything I need is off the shelf so fingers crossed it might not be too painful...Self employed and loving it

Free breakfast, can't argue with that :j But as my local is Edmonton, it'll be like the Battle of Ikea all over again
Glad I didn't get the few bits I wanted last week. Pop in and save 21%0 -
Re the kitchens. Do you need to plan it all and book in an order and so effectively have to order it on the day or do these vouchers mean we could just grab a voucher and then come back and plan it and then order it before the voucher expires?0

I agree that the ad is a bit vague and may cause problems on the day in terms of people arriving at 6 and expecting to get in without the card - but it does say:
The party starts early for IKEA FAMILY members, with a FREE breakfast between 6am-8am on 19th April in the IKEA restaurant. There'll be special offers for FAMILY members all day throughout the store too
And also says:
Friends and family are welcome along too - they can simply join IKEA FAMILY on the door to enjoy the free breakfast and loads of family offers.
Which again references the breakfast and the family offers...but there's also that bit about 'the party starts early for IKEA FAMILY members'.
It is unclear, but as they are giving the option of joining on the day and getting in early, I suppose they think they have covered their bases as really, anyone can get in early if they sign up.
But in practice, depending on how many staff they have designated to signing new people up, I could see it being scrapped if it gets out of control.
Which is why I'm so torn about going...if I knew the majority of people would be stuck for a bit signing up and I could dash in and dash out, I'll give it a go...if it's likely to be a free-for-all, I am less than enthused!Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
For those thinking of buying kitchens on Saturday, you should seriously consider downloading the kitchen planning software to your PC and planning out your kitchen in advance from the comfort of home. I wish I'd done this when I was buying mine, instead of sitting for a couple of hours in-store doing it. You'll also have the benefit of being able to nip in to your kitchen with a tape measure to be sure you've got all the sizes you need.
Once you have it all planned, you can save it to your online profile and then access it instore to print out your picking list. Alternatively, print it out and take it with you.
You might also want to consider having a staff member input it all to a quote tomorrow, but don't have it converted to a firm order until Saturday, so that you get the discount. This will ensure that you have all the bits and pieces that you need - when we were having ours entered to a quote, we discovered that we'd missed off all the end panels, and it was good to have the kitchen dept staff member to help us check through everything, but I wouldn't want to consider this on sale day, as the staff will all be very busy).
In terms of delivery, when we ordered ours last year, we were given the option of store delivery, where we had to pick all the pieces ourselves and then take it to the delivery section to arrange it, or Warehouse delivery, where our entire order was passed to a warehouse and delivered directly from there. This option took a while longer (10-14 days i think they quote) but this suited us, so this is the option we chose. The warehouse called me when everything was in stock and arranged a mutually convenient delivery date. On the day, they called first thing to let me know what time roughly to expect them and they turned up bang on time.
Hope this helps. Much as I love the odd shopping day at ikea, I think I'll give it a miss on Saturday, as I just had surgery and I'm not sure my sutures will hold up to the strain!
Happy bargain hunting to all who decide to brave the chaos! My cottage industry: MoKaPottery (on FB)DFW/MFW lurker

i.e %discount?
i bought my leather couches on one so i've got 1350 on it?
But ain't been back since
Unlike other stores loyalty schemes, Ikea isn't based on how much you spend, but how often you spend. Your visit is recorded, rather than the amount of money you spend, so you could theoretically go in several times a day and buy a washing up brush at 50p and earn more 'loyalty' point than someone who spends thousands! My cottage industry: MoKaPottery (on FB)DFW/MFW lurker

I didn't know that. Interesting.
We've received some vouchers before...one was £10 off £60 in purchases and I think the other was £20 off £100 in purchases...the £20 off came after we had been once and used the card...so not too bad.
There are also special offers in the store where Family members get a reduction in price...so far nothing in that section has really interested me but I check it every time.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
I phoned my local store (Gateshead Metrocentre) earlier today to ask about delivery and was told, yes, there'll be delivery but obviously they'll be expected to be inundated so it some cases it could be weeks rather than days when it gets delivered.
If you're ordering something that needs to be ordered, such as sofas, then you don't need to worry about it being in stock obviously, and you can just go to an ordering point. Presumably be prepared for a wait though as they'll be busy!0
