I tried agin on the site but it still only shows the current tax year to sign up for..if you ignore and dont tick that it says you havent indicated which year you want the isa for but it dosent give you two options!!

I opened a Tax Haven ISA last week using my Barclays internet banking, and funded with initial £1 from my current account (it only took a couple of days to be set up). I was planning to add the other £2999 of this year's allowance using internet banking, but its not possible - it needs to be done by phone or by taking a cheque/cash to a branch (who'll then send it internally to the Liverpool address). I'm assuming that after 5th April I can simply add another £3000 to this ISA for next tax year rather than needing to open a new ISA?

Thats right vintage, but whats even better is, due to changes in ISA, you can now add £3600 for 2008/09 instead of the 3k

I have just logged on to my Barclays bank account and because I am already a customer I was able to complete application on line and has been accepted for 2008/2009.

MABLE please could you let us know where the option is for existing Barclays customers to do this online? The only application I can find is via "ISAs" from the left hand menu, which only gives me an option for 2007/08. Thank you!

    Just a little question here:

I was thinking about opening one for next year however I don't think I can as I have filledmy current ISA already... and the ISA for next year requires a minimum of £1 deposit to open.. which would take me £1 over my limit (lol?).

I just want to know what the others who have opened it and already filled up their ISA did? (did you go £1 over your limit or did they n ot care or what?)

hey Lokolo, unless I have read you wrong, I think you are considering opening a new Barclays ISA for 2008/09, is this right? it sems like savers are now opening their account for 2008/09, with a zero balance. the rules will not allow you to deposit until 6th April 2008. If you make any deposit now, for 2008/09, you will not be entitled to the interest, and Barclays may also close your ISA account.

Indeed thats what I meant but on their website it says you need £1 to open the account... THEY LIE....

Also it says the 1% introductory bonus will be paid for 12 months on opening the account, and as they (people here) have been opening their accuont now with £0 in they're losing a month worth of 1% bonus :-/

Nobody will have a 2008/09 ISA account opened before 6.4.08.

I gave Barclays my 2007/08 ISA application in late March 2007 together with a cheque for 1.00 dated for 6.4.07 and the account was opened during May 2007.

U should be carefull before u call people and/or Organisations Liars.

Barclays would be within their rights to not open accounts where the applications are not accompanied by the stated minimum investment of 1.00.

Unless I am qwrong the offical opening date is when a deposit is made, rather than when an account number is presented. forget the website, open now and deposit on or before april 6th
