    Hello there,
Right I've been faffing around with this for the last 6 weeks and before that I'd done so well - (2 and a half stone) but then just went off the rails completely. Went back to group & have put on 5.5 pounds so a little shocked but am determined to get it off again & to carry on.
I find it easier to buy myself ready meals and then I've a stash of things that are just for me & I like the indulgence of not properly cooking (somehow its a treat to have the stuff which isn't homemade!) so can anyone give me good ideas for free green ready meals (I'm not a big meat eater) - i think i'd got v bored of batchelors pasta n sauce!
Also - where's cheapest for muller lights at the moment? Does anyone know? I hate it that they're dead expensive but I did love the banana ones...

Well done for going back to group - that's a really hard step when you've been off the plan for a while. Don't worry - I'm sure you'll lose that weight again quickly.

I think the BirdsEye frozen penne pasta with veg is free on green... sainsbury's value range spag bolognese is 2 syns on green... sainsburys salmon in watercress sauce is free on red... you can always buy the ready to cook type meals as a not-quite-homemade-but-not-processed option - sainsburys chicken stuffed with feta and olives is 2 syns on red, I think, and is yum! and their chicken in red wine sauce is free on red.

To find out where things are cheapest, try mysupermarket.com

    Hope that's helpful!

Does anyone have a very simple recipe for a soup? No onions or spicy herbs. Which could be free on both days? I fancy making my own homemade soup but the first time I tried to make some it was disgusting. Plus is ok to freeze soup? Then does it need to be defrosted before heating it up or?

P.s Will most likely put on at my weigh in tomorrow night, I knew I might, had a meal out on friday then hospital for surgery yesterday, and for some reason my boday just wanted to eat junk at the weekend, I tried to stop, honestly!

That looks brilliant - im gonna have a go at it tonight! :T
Can I just confess to being in the same rut as you lot, I have lost the plot this week and already had all my syns for the week and I dont get weighed till Firday - this seems to be a habit im getting into (must stop it). And today - I was xmas shopping at lunchtime and had a greggs sausage roll! Im a bl%$dy nightmare this week, would not normally even touch anything like that - it was ver greasy too, but i did enjoy it (I ate it in the car to hide my shame). :(

Im not sure about cooking with quark or fromage frais.

I tried to make a mushroom sauce and it just curdled when I heated it and was vile. yet at meetings Linda is always mentioning using quark etc to make sauces as its free.

Also i read on here somewhere about making rice pudding but using a free yog instead of milk and am wondering if you can heat it up if you use yogurt or will that curdle too?

    What flavours do you like?

One of the easist soups is pea soup - start with frozen peas and some chicken bovril, cook through then blend or bliz til smooth - this is obviously only free on green.

I freeze almost all flavours of soup - in serving sized portions, then I cook from frozen in a pan or microwave.

Try a tin of baked beans and a tin of chopped tomatoes add a tsp of any spices you like (garlic or chilli or curry or dried herbs or plain old salt and pepper - honestly anything you fancy)
Heat together the whiz up and serve with a smile:D If adding chilli flakes I always put in a small tin of kidney beans after the whizzing bit!

Or chop up a butternut squash (remove seeds and yucky bits but no need to peel it) add a couple sticks of chopped up celery and a chopped up onion (brown in frylight if you like) add a couple pints of veg or chicken stock, bring to boil and simmer for about half an hour. Whiz up and serve!

  • Hello all! I'm back again I'm afraid!
Tomato soup is easy and free on both days, you could just leave out the onions and use a carton of passatta, free vegetable or chicken stock and chuck in some dried basil. Or you could do as I do and chuck in whatever veg you fancy at the time, if you use superfree veg it can be free on both days.

Soup is fine to freeze and reheat from both frozen or thawed.
