Oh dear....I did so well, I lost 5lb in 4 weeks and then I went to London for a gig and had my 30th birthday and all the weight has gone back on with extra to boot! I dont see much point in trying until the New Year to lose again what with all the cakes etc and nights out there are going to be.

Is anyone else experiencing something similar to me?

If you can gain all you've lost over the course of a weekend and a birthday party, imagine how much you could gain between now and the New Year without following the plan

The whole idea of Food Optimising is that it's not a conventional diet. It's there to teach you how to eat healthily for the rest of your life, including special events, birthdays, Christmas and so on. If you give up on it every time an event comes up, you'll never keep the weight off and will be forever 'slimming'.

Is it not better to keep with the plan, allowing yourself a couple of days with a more relaxed attitude to food and minimise the damage? This way, whatever you may gain will be minimal and easily lost within the first week or two of the New Year.

Without learning how to cope with high days and holidays, there's not much hope of being slim for ever.
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

    I agree with Consultant!

The first time I did SW there was a lady in the class who I used to chat to. She really struggled to lost every 0.5lb as she was so busy (her daughter was training for the Olympics) but she said to me once "I've put on half a stone every year for the past few years. This year although I haven't lost much I haven't put it on either."

Thats always stuck with me and through my recent hiccups and disillusionment I continue to eat the SW way because I know it works for me and if I didn't I would put on all my weight I've lost plus more (done that before and got the XXL t-shirt!). So at least I'm maintaining at the mo, and will go into the New Year with new vigor, knowing that I haven't made my journey harder for myself by going back a step and gaining 0.5stone or more.

Stick with it - it does work.

I feel even worse now! :( I've not much hope of following the plan to the letter at the moment as my OH has lost his job and we have to spend as little as possible on food, we cant afford to buy the things I used to love so much such as quorn and frylight.

I'm not making excuses just saying how things are at the moment, I think its best if I keep away from this board until the New Year, hopefully then I'll be in a better frame of mind and and my OH will be employed again.

Quorn is often on offer and I find it cheaper than meat. You can use normal cooking oil in a spray bottle I think and it'll just be a small amount of syns. I find you can make SW cheap if you want to - own brand low fat yoghurts, value rice, value pasta, HM sauces from yellow stickered veg, HM currys/chillis that you can batch cook etc, casseroles/stews.

Good luck whatever you decide to do.

Thanks, my last post was rather self indulgent wasnt it? I'm feeling a bit sorry for myself at the moment what with having to support both me and my partner with just my income and also wondering to do about Xmas.

    Sorry guys

You can make your own, very cheap frylight by mixing 1/3 oil with 2/3 water in an empty frylight container.Shake well before use. It's still free.

Also, most supermarkets do their own versions of meatfree (quorn) substitutes which taste better (asda's is fab;) ) and are much cheaper though they are not all free, most are very few syns:D

Anything you need cheap substitutes for,I'm sure someone will come up with something.I think most of us are pretty skint on here too:rotfl:

Or pop on to the old stylers weight loss thread for cheap meal ideas, and adapt them to SW?

  • Hello there,
Right I've been faffing around with this for the last 6 weeks and before that I'd done so well - (2 and a half stone) but then just went off the rails completely. Went back to group & have put on 5.5 pounds so a little shocked but am determined to get it off again & to carry on.
I find it easier to buy myself ready meals and then I've a stash of things that are just for me & I like the indulgence of not properly cooking (somehow its a treat to have the stuff which isn't homemade!) so can anyone give me good ideas for free green ready meals (I'm not a big meat eater) - i think i'd got v bored of batchelors pasta n sauce!
Also - where's cheapest for muller lights at the moment? Does anyone know? I hate it that they're dead expensive but I did love the banana ones...
