The best way to find out the syns is to see what they would be on the opposite plan (ie potatoes on a red day etc). In this instance lasagne is 2½ syns per sheet.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
Alyth, there are several slimming support threads scattered around the boards, including a Slimming World one on this board, one about doing it the old-fashioned way on the Old Style board, always used to be one in I wanna... and one in DT as well.
See what you can find, I'm sure there will be one to suit - but you're in despair at being a size 14? That's really not a large size ...Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Ha I wish I was 12 stone! I think I weighed more than that when I was born :rotfl:
But seriously, if you want to lose weight then it would probably be worth joining a slimming group. I'd recommend slimming world. It's very easy to follow and not much counting involved. A weekly class gives you motivation and you learn tips and hints. Weighing yourself weekly isn't a good idea as you can just cheat as no-one is tracking your progress!
Good luck with it all, and don't despair!

I'm a big believer in moderation in all things, so a few of anything like this is not going to have much effect on your weight, it's when you get to making loads of them and eating them in preference to 'proper' food that the problems begin.
Oh nomind i havent perfected making them yet like so i havent eaten loads. Today has been my worst day as i went out for tea with work and have just nutella on ryvita! tomorrow is a new day and ill do some more exercise.. :A

I don't have scales at home, I knew I was about 11.5 stone, but thought I'd find out the exact figure today - I've scared myself witless, not least because according to Weightwatchers and Slimming World I should be 8.5 - 10.5 stone! There are classes near me for both companies, I've checked their websites so time to bite the bullet I think!
It's not the size 14 that bothers me, I couldn't care less what size I am, it's the actual weight figure that's freaked me out. I kind of wish I hadn't bothered weighing myself now...!0 -

Too sweet? Too sweet? Are you mad woman? :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
Go for it! You'll be a bit nervous walking in for the first time but everyone will be very friendly and remember that they are all there for the same reason as you.
Just to give you an insight on the two, with Weightwatchers you have to count everything you eat and track it. With slimming world you have a list of free foods to eat from plus some dairy/fibre and don't need to write it down.
Personally I find slimming world easy as i work shifts and the list of free food is massive - pasta/potatoes/rice/veg/fruit etc so you can have so many different meals, and I'm vegetarian so I just stick to their green days.
I found WW a bit too picky with all the measuring and counting points, but it's good if you like to track what you are eating. Plus WW has a better website than SW!

Shanley, it is time we accepted that there are some strange people in this world.:D
Loving this empty thread, it's like taking the Christmas decorations down and realising how big your house is all of a sudden.:staradmin0 -
A whale...............no, you look more like a manatee.:D
No offence............I'm referring to your avatar.;)
Don't despair, have a look at the 'Lose Weight 19' thread and join in the discussion. They're a very friendly bunch.

thanks for the info Flutterby, I appreciate it. I'm more angry at myself than anything in letting myself get so heavy! I couldn't be bothered counting points, SW sounds the best option for me. I've been aware that I've been porking out for a while, it's weird because I eat only fruit during the day at work, but at night I drink wine and scoff peanuts and crisps and that's the problem - more discipline needed me thinks!0
