consultant, so how many syns would there be in the cous cous cake?
also, does the rice quiche i make become synned? i cook a pack of savoury rice, with eggs mixed in? worried now cos thats what i got for tea.
You'd need to count the couscous at 5 syns per 28gms.
The rice quiche is free as you're using it in the form it's intended to be used.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -

Hi Terri and welcome to the board and SW. The best (and only) advice you need is to follow the food optimising book - use it as your bible, have utter faith in the plan........it really works. Drink at least 2½ litres of water every day and eat lots of free foods.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -

Ooooh. Hmmm. We had a tasting night the other week and someone brought lasange crisps in, which our consultant advocated, and she's always talking about the cous cous and chickpea cake. I don't really understand how a food can be 'mis-used', to be honest, as if its the intention that puts on the pounds rather than the ingredients. I recognise that it is not how you would 'normally' eat your cous cous, but you don't eat more of it, nor do you change the constitution (unless you reach for the blender
) - I don't really see how it's different to having a plate of cous cous with chopped egg, slices of lemon and a dollop of low fat yoghurt on top (except for the baking powder, of course), but I'm willing to admit I might be missing something!
I don't make the rules, I just try to explain them as best I can
Food Optimising is a healthy eating plan. It's aims are to teach you how to eat in a way which will help you to maintain your new slimmer figure for ever (once you've lost the excess weight). In order to do this, you need to eat food in the way everyone else would eat it, not made up into some bizarre recipe which you find enticing - naturally slim people don't spend their time looking for ways of making cakes out of everyday foods.
I admit to not being able to explain myself well on this issue, but I know, without a shadow of a doubt, that food optimising works if you follow the rules. Tweaking them will eventually result in weight gain!I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -

consultant 31 i laughed when i read your post about "naturally slim people don't spend their time trying to work out how to make cakes out of everyday foods" it's so true!
terri - i've just returned to SW and my weight is coming off at a snails pace too so assuming you are following the plan correctly that is just how it is for some people.
Although a few people do say if it comes off slow you are more likely to keep it off.0 -

hi terri
consultant 31 has said on this thread that lasagne crisps are not free unfortunately as they constitute a misuse of free food.0
