Hi all - wow! two pages to catch up, and I have only missed one day
Weighed in tonight to be thrilled with a 3lb losswhich got me to my Club 10 :j :j Hurrah!
This has been a slow old journey for me (started in April), but seeing as I was away in Spain last week, I showed plenty of willpower with the food (not so much with the wine mind you :rotfl: )so I have clearly learnt something  a few days of straightjacket eating, lots of water, max 5 syns daily (only for the last 3 days, not for ever!!!) has got the weight shifted.
I am well pleased0 -

Plus don't forget - half a pound a week is nearly 2 stone a year!!!! :j
Thanks skint-catt xxx
I guess that I just expected a bit more in my first week, even with the Halloween party on Friday.
I think I am also guilty of piling my plate high in an attempt to stop myself from snacking, I think I have eaten far too much.:oBut these things take time, I know that I'm, the most inept that ever stepped.0 -
LouiseJ, snacking (on the right things) is good!
OH was told by a fitness trainer that people should actually eat 6 times a day (little and often) and actually this is what Slimfast does. There's nothing wrong with it unless you're eating 6 'main meals' a day!0 -
You know Club 10?
Is there such a thing as Club 20????
If there is, by my calculations I'm only 5.5lb away from it!!!!We’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Made an epic post, but put it on the worng thread so deleted it. The gist of it was that I have lost the high level of motivation I had before. My meals are 100% on track, but I keep 'forgetting' that I can't just have stuff without knowing the syn value until it's in my mouth! For example, yesterday at work I took a handful of jelly beans and started eating them, then realised I have no idea about the syns in them so should have then put them back after eating one. Nope, I finshed them instead!
I don't use syns in my meals (other than the odd one for tomato puree or something) so it's not like I have no syns left by the evening. I think I need a major shop and stocking up of free and low syn snacks.
I just want the motivation I had in the beginning where I reissting everything until I knew the syn value and counted them. Any tips?I saw two shooting stars last night
I wished on them, but they were only satellites
It's wrong to wish on space hardware
I wish, I wish, I wish you'd care0 -
TG, not officially though theres nothing wrong with keeping your own record and giving yourself a big star!!!
Chaos - it is hard sometimes other than to keep low syn snacks handy.

Nic2075 Sorry to worry you!
I think Skint_Catt summed it up nicely, but in a nutshell, yes you CAN eat huge, unlimited portions on SW, you certainly shouldn't starve yourself or make yourself feel deprived. My problem, a bit like Skint_Catt is that I've done the diet on and off for 6 years now and not only am I cheating and not sticking to the plan but I have got way too used to bigger and bigger portions, which I simply didn't need - I was stuffing myself to the point of feeling very bloated, lethargic etc... you get the idea. Whether or not you can lose weight that way, I just don't think that's a healthy thing to do. Its really interesting that other people on here are going through the same thought process. That certainly does not mean I'm going to start starving myself!
If I have one criticism of Slimming World its that it only briefly touches on the concept of eating until you're full, not eating until you are stuffed. I think the key to success is to listen to your body. Don't feel like you are on restricted portion sizes - if you are hungry enough to eat two massive plates full of chicken breast then go for it, but if you are full after 1 plate then feel free to stop, rather than plough on through regardless and feel uncomfortably bloated at the end of it.
Well I had an interesting day yesterday, first day of my vow to eat pretty naturally. I felt like I ate reasonably, pretty healthily (although I found a block of cheddar reduced inthe supermarket that I should have left on the shelf ) and I ate a small tea and was pleased to feel satisfied - unfortunately I then went to the cinema (no sweets) and came back late so got really hungry by the time I came home and ate stuff I shouldn't have done really. But I never felt stuffed, and think the day went really well apart from that late night feast. Think I'm going to have to make up some healthies and freeze in handy sized containers for situations like that.:cool:0 -
Just back from my first weigh in, I lost 3.5lb :j:jI've been unwell most of the week so think I could of lost a bit more if i hadn't been laid up on the sofa most of the time. Will be a bit more active once I'm feeling better.
Very pleased though as I found the diet quite hard the first few days so I think that 3.5lb has mainly come from about 4 days. Thanks to everyone that posts :T:money:

I have done the same Chaos - I have often grabbed some obscure sweets off the kids and thought how on earth could i even find the syn value for that, so I have ignored it - but it all adds up.
I am pretty much a creature of habit and the snacks that I often go for tend to be the same, so I keep a list of my favourite Syn items (mainly chocolate, crisps and wine!!) and tend to stick to those.
I have quite often logged onto the SW site to get the syn value for something which is currently half way down my throat.:o I have tried to stop that now, and have thought that by the time you find the syn value it might make you think about if you really want / need it and if you have to have it at least you know what the damage is (so to speak). You can stand there and agonize........

Well I have been a little star today, and tonight I had a houseful of people for fireworks and there were hot dogs and stuff on the go and I faithfully cooked my broccoli and pasta bake up and ate that instead. Chuffed with myself.:DYou can stand there and agonize........
