Hi can I just ask a quick question please.

Does anybody have the Tefal Actifry, and can it be used for sw chips i.e spraying them with fry light...or does it have to have the oil in it like it says??

    Thanks

    Mel x
Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot,
Nothing is going to get better. It's not.

Do you know - I had wondered the same thing myself

I did think though that it needs 1 tbsp per process - so that could be for one portion or for several.... also you could have 1 tbsp olive oil as a HEB.

I decided against it ultimately - seemed a lot of money :o and I have recently started to make hugely sucessful (SW) chips - it has taken a while, but I have got there!

FWIW I use Maris Piper potatoes, drop them into already boiling water, lid back on, for exactly 4 mins. drain, shake, spray, straight into the oven at 200deg for about 25 mins.

I'll go then  . You pay how much for Slimming World each week? ;)

£4.50 but SW isn't about portions/weighing food. You'll be better off on the Weight Watchers thread instead of telling us how to diet

    Hi Lucy!

Great to have you here - hope you enjoy your stay!

You don't need to tell us anything that you don't want to - your weight is your business...... that said, a few of us choose to put info in our sigs - I find that it encourages me, and maybe others too :D

I did WW many moons ago, and have joined SW before I had gained more than I had lost (ie I lost 3st on WW, then regained 2.5), so I can't compare old style with new SW... I would imagine though that if you have done it before, you will need to concentrate a bit for the first few weeks - so you don't make mistakes... I am sure your consultant has said, but try to write everything down for the first 4 weeks, and **drink lots of water**

F&V is expensive, I get a lot from the market, and also from Aldi - do you have either of these near you? I found DD liked going to the market with me when she was little. DD is now 6 (and has type 1 diabetes - food is a big deal in our house) so food optimising is a great way of giving her freshly prepared, healthy food. I always make sure there is a balance on her plate, so she eats what we eat, maybe with extras! If we are having pasta and veg, I might add some tuna in hers, or if we are having meat and veg, she will get some potatoes or baked beans. Remember young children need fats to grow, and a low fat diet is not appropriate for them, but this can be as simple as yogurts, a piece of cheese after a meal or full fat milk. I see no reason why your toddlers won't enjoy this plan with you!

    Good luck,

Thanks so much for the lovely welcome and advice! :D

You're very right. I had imagined that it would be easier having done it before, but then it's easy to assume stuff is the same and then wonder why I'm putting weight on, lol!

I've done jacket spuds for dinner for us with beans and cheese, and put butter in their and olive oil on their spud skin under the grill so it's a bit crunchy and they seem to enjoy it. I actaully weighed my cheese instead of guessing, so I'm pleased I've started on the right foot - before I just took a very uneducated guess

I look forward to swapping recipes and keeping the enthusiasm up with everyone on here. And getting back into me jeans...! :T Woo hoo!

    Thanks again Angie

    Best wishes
    Luce

ps does anyone have a breadmaker? How do you count the bread from it, please, if it's possible?

beachbeth - is that sweet n sour recipe totally free? Yummy!
  • The sweet and sour chicken recipe seems to be free on red, and if you subsituted the chicken with veg or quorn pieces, it would be free on green too :D

KBB, you are talking so much sense, and that is exactly the reason why I want to do WW points for a bit, to gain a realistic idea of portion sizes once again, although I have a suspicion I will be filling up on mountains of zero points veg until I quit the idea that unlimited does not mean you have to pile it on! :rotfl:
I also think one thing from Paul McKenna's I can make you slim thing makes a lot of sense - Quit the clean plate club - always leave some food on your plate, it is supposed to get you to let go of the subconscious idea that you clear your plate regardless, and it is supposed to make it a lot easier for you to leave more if you don't need it.

That's what I like about the Paul McKenna cd,and that it sends me to sleep!I think we often forget to 'enjoy' food in a conscious way,we just shovel it in without even thinking if we're enjoying it.I can't eat as slowly as my dad (his meals last for at least an hour!) or do the chewing thing he recommends but I listen for the 'sigh' of satisfaction and I definately feel better when I stop eating at the right tiime....like he says, you can always eat again later if you feel hungry! We are very fortunate in this country that we never have to worry about running out of food but I think sometimes people eat like they'll never see food again!
:T His message is simple and effective - slow down, enjoy what you're eating and STOP when you get that sighing feeling:T

  • By the way,I'd like to point out that Paul McKenna is NOT my dad!Read that post back and realised it looked a little compromising.....however my dad is Italian and is notorious for his slow masticating and good looks and health, aged 71,and he follows PM's advice without realising it,as that is how his family always ate - around a table, not in a hurry, and never told to clear their plates!
