The diet plate has no place in Slimming World, however, I do think that we've all (not just SW'ers) forgotten what a portion is. Great idea, but no place on here, sorry! ;):rotfl:

It basically replicates the posters seen in every Home Economic room and SW has some of the theory i.e. Loads of fruit and salads, measured amount of bread, cereals, meats etc and an even smaller amount of processed fats, sugars and other naughty things ;)

    And £32!

I'll go then  . You pay how much for Slimming World each week? ;)
Do not allow the risk of failure to stop you trying!

Thought I would contribute a nice recipe from my collection, . Syn free on a red day

    Ingredients
    • 4 chicken breasts
    • 2 clove garlic, large, finely chopped
    • 1 teaspoon dried chilli flakes, or chilli powder
    • 1 teaspoon oregano
    • 30 ml lemon juice, (1 small lemon)
    • 4 tablespoon water
    • 1 pinch salt
    • 1 serving pepper, black, ground
    Instructions
    • Heat the oven to 180°C. Place the chicken in a shallow ovenproof dish which has been sprayed with Frylight.
    • Mix together the garlic, chilli, oregano, lemon juice and water.
    • Spoon over the chicken making sure it is well coated. Cover the top loosely with foil to protect the flesh from drying out.
    • Bake for 20-25 minutes, basting once or twice during cooking. Remove the foil and brown the chicken for the last 5 minutes.
Very nice with a green salad and some small boiled potatoes.

idon't really eat a lot of meat do you think quorn fillets would work

I tried this Slimming World Sweet and Sour chicken recipe and it was delicious! Even my hubby and DD1 liked it and they are very fussy!

    Marinade:

    6 chicken breast fillets, skinned
6 spring onions, trimmed and finely sliced
    2 garlic cloves, crushed
    salt & pepper
    3 tbsp light soy sauce

Slice the chicken breast fillets thinly and put in a shallow dish with the marinade.

Spray a large non-stick frying pan with fry light and then add this chicken mixture and cook, stirring for 5-6 minutes.

    Add:

    1tbsp dark soy sauce
    2 tbsp artificial sweetener
    2 tbsp raspberry vinegar
    1 tsp paprika
half tsp chinese five spice powder
    100ml passata

Stir to mix well and bring to the boil. Reduce the heat and cook for 3-4 minutes until the chicken is cooked through. Yum!

    Hi everyone!

Well, I've finally done it, I signed up last night to our local SW. I did lose 4 stone in 2000 and then in 2005 I had my first baby, 18 months later had my second. Now I'm rather annoyingly back to square one (because I've eaten too much chocolate, all my own fault.)

First time round it wasn't so bad as fruit and veg wasn't so dear, but now I'm a bit worried that it might be a bit expensive what with the costs of class (which I do need to keep me going). It's not going to be easy to catch the whole thread as my 2 toddlers are running riot but will try my best to read as much as I can!

I also have noted that some of the tins aren't free anymore like macaroni cheese and suchlike, which is a shame.

Do I need to tell you guys anything to totally commit? Like how much I weight etc? Does anyone have any tips for me starting? I have got the books - not sure about the new stylie, how do you all find the new format of the directory? I'm finding it a bit difficult compared to the old one.

Anyhow, I'll go now as they're dancing the Playdoh into the carpet and I've waffled enough.

I am 100% committed to doing it and not making excuses for myself - they're a lovely lot at group but I did notice some people were less committed (like, 'I don't bother counting my sins', etc, etc) which is a bit depressing. I think they're crackers, it's a dear do to go along just for a chin wag!

Anyhoo, great to find you all on here and finger's crossed that this is the start of a new me! Or regaining the old me! (As my counsellor says - she's in there somewhere, lol!)

Best wishes to all the other SW brothers and sisters! :T
    Luce

ps does anyone else have toddlers under 3? How do you organise the cooking for them without them losing weight, too?! And without having ten pans on the go, lol?
  • Skint_Catt - I think sadly they are the only free noodles on green, I remember when they suddenly went from most flavours free to about 5-6 syns per packet! Maybe you could look up the syns of the value ones etc and decide if its worth them? I'd be interested to know.

Egg noodles used to be free, haven't had them for ages so I'm not sure, maybe you could experiment and get a similar effect with cooking them in chicken bovril? Hmm.

KBB, you are talking so much sense, and that is exactly the reason why I want to do WW points for a bit, to gain a realistic idea of portion sizes once again, although I have a suspicion I will be filling up on mountains of zero points veg until I quit the idea that unlimited does not mean you have to pile it on! :rotfl:

I also think one thing from Paul McKenna's I can make you slim thing makes a lot of sense - Quit the clean plate club - always leave some food on your plate, it is supposed to get you to let go of the subconscious idea that you clear your plate regardless, and it is supposed to make it a lot easier for you to leave more if you don't need it.

    Hi Lucy!

Great to have you here - hope you enjoy your stay!

You don't need to tell us anything that you don't want to - your weight is your business...... that said, a few of us choose to put info in our sigs - I find that it encourages me, and maybe others too :D

I did WW many moons ago, and have joined SW before I had gained more than I had lost (ie I lost 3st on WW, then regained 2.5), so I can't compare old style with new SW... I would imagine though that if you have done it before, you will need to concentrate a bit for the first few weeks - so you don't make mistakes... I am sure your consultant has said, but try to write everything down for the first 4 weeks, and **drink lots of water**

F&V is expensive, I get a lot from the market, and also from Aldi - do you have either of these near you? I found DD liked going to the market with me when she was little. DD is now 6 (and has type 1 diabetes - food is a big deal in our house) so food optimising is a great way of giving her freshly prepared, healthy food. I always make sure there is a balance on her plate, so she eats what we eat, maybe with extras! If we are having pasta and veg, I might add some tuna in hers, or if we are having meat and veg, she will get some potatoes or baked beans. Remember young children need fats to grow, and a low fat diet is not appropriate for them, but this can be as simple as yogurts, a piece of cheese after a meal or full fat milk. I see no reason why your toddlers won't enjoy this plan with you!

    Good luck,
