Hi everyone, I had a bit of a peculiar day yesterday, although I'm not sure what a 'normal day' is in my life lately! Anyway as I posted I intend to have a 'back to basics' week I'm writing everything down and making sure I weigh/measure everything, trying to up my water intake etc. I had my brekkie ( cereal and fruit) Lunch (finn crisps with Tuna) fruit for snack and all was duly noted. Then my day went a bit haywire! without going into detail, it got to 9.00 before I ate again and then I just grabbed a tin of ww soup to see me through, I was so tired that I didn't even have the energy to feel hungry! I don't want my bod to go into starvation mode though, do you think one day would make that much difference? Anyway, I've got today all mapped out so, baring the stupidness of my family setting in again, all should be ok. Anyone else feel they lay all these plans but life seems to get in the way sometimes! Oh well just got to keep smiling I guess (even though it is through gritted teeth sometimes!) Sorry about the rant but it does feel so much better to get it off my chest! When Life Throws You Lemons Make Lemonade0

Would someone mind pm'ing me the password for this week if poss?
I've been on holiday for a week so missed class and usually it lets me in with last weeks but it isn't so not sure if I'm remembering it right..
I just want to check the syn values of some of the things i've eaten the past week
Also, I bought two versions of the aldi yoghurts as I wasn't sure which were free (the low fat big pots and the multi-grain ones). They're both really nice so hoping one of them is free..0 -
Hiya! Can someone tell me the syn value of the batchelors pasta n sauce are on green days? My mum (who did the diet years ago) says they are free, but syns online say they have a syn value?0

Hello I have never followed the proper slimming world recipe as Im lazy! but here is my version.
I cook my potatoes in my microwave on my jacket potato setting. If Im organised, I cook them before I go to work and once cooked, just leave them in the oven to go cold.
when I get home, I spray a tray with fry light and stick in the oven. (180 electric fan assisted) Meanwhile, I slice the potatoes up and after a few mins put on now hot oven tray and spray with more fry light. Occasionally I add some spices.
I cook for however long I want, sometimes i stick the temperature up to 200 electic fan assisted unless im cooking something else that needs to be on a lower temp. I cook until the potatoes look nice and crispy. I find that cooking them from cold means they crisp up better.
I serve with lots of vinegar and a tiny bit of salt :rolleyes:0 -
Ive got a nice recipe for sweet and sour chicken that is free on red that I will try this week. Sounds nice but I don't know how easy raspberry vinegar is to get hold of?
Lovelyladybird - I was wondering if you have to let the potato go cold before you put them in the oven? It may make a difference and it works for Flat Eric?
Is there a kind person who can pm me this week's password?0 -
ive been going 4 week - WI tomorrow night and all i need is 2lb for my stone - fingers crossed cos ive had a bit of a picky week0

i don't think the pototes were that cold when i put them in the oven so i'll try that next time.
just a quick q eric you said you cook j potatoes in microwave first. Is that partly cooked (sorry to be so dense) just thats how i do my jackets potatoes and crisp them up in the oven to finish them off

i have a combination microwave which means it can do more than just heat stuff up. I have a desinated jacket potato setting which i use to cook my spuds. when the microwave beeps, the jackets are ready to eat but I do normally stick them in the oven to keep warm whilst the rest of my food cooks. this does enable the skins to crisp up as you say (especially if you give them a little spray of fry light). I do my jacket chips this way because I dont have the patience to par boil the spuds etc. I do sometimes cook my jackets and then immediately slice them and put in oven to make the chips. This works fine also - they just dont crisp up as much.
I did buy a bag of the blue and white supermarket market value spuds recently as they were a very good price but they didnt jacket chip as well so i have gone back to using maris piper potatoes.0
