Those who are pondering lunch without much facilities - If you have a kettle you can make pasta & sauces and Batchelors rice in a wide-necked food flask (£3-4 in Asda) with just boiling water, and leave to cook itself for about 20-40 mins. I wouldn't make it first thing in the morning though, as the pasta goes mushy if you leave it too long. Rice might be ok?
The only way I do decent lunches is to have leftovers of the previous night's dinner. Many of which are suprisingly yummy cold! Last night I had leftover beef in mushroom sauce (recipe in magazine) as a HEb with spicy rice, and am having leftover rice cold for lunch.
Recipe (ish)
Made big portion for dinner and two hearty sized leftover portions. Would servce 4 if you weren't as much of a piggy as me
2 cups of ordinary rice
1 cup lentils
Tin of tomatoes, including juice, chopped
1/2 tin sweetcorn
1 tin red kidney beans
Veg from fridge stock - mine was a couple of sticks of celery, 1 small green pepper, 1 small red pepper
shallots (could use onion, it was just what I had in)
dried coriander, mixed herbs, paprika, black pepper and chilli powder to taste
Method - cook rice & lentils in water (No idea how much, but the idea is not to need to drain it, so use "some" and add to it IYKWIM)
Add herbs and all veg, including the juice from the tin of tomatoes
Cook, stiring regularly for 20-30 mins until rice & lentils cooked and most of the liquid is absorbed.
Serve with sweet chilli sauce stirred into it if desired (I haven't checked the syns for that yet)

I'm having a frustrating week. I'll admit that I have slipped slightly and stopped measuring my skimmed milk, but am pretty sure I am well within limit as I only have it in 2 coffees in the morning. I tend to use syns at the weekend and no more than 2 a day during the week. Had a night out last week and lost 1lb, been good this week and I think I've put on 4lbs!
I now have to try to lose that by Thursday night! pffffft!I saw two shooting stars last night
I wished on them, but they were only satellites

can anyone help me, i have a very sweet tooth and have managed so far by making the slimming world cheesecakes, but as it is getting colder i fancy a hot pud, preferably chocolate! does anyone have a recipe for a hot pudding. thank you0

ajgrist - Its not hot, but I have recently fallen in love with stirring an options sachet into fromage frais, leaving it for a couple of hours/day in the fridge to "melt" in and serving it with squirty cream (1 syn per tablespoon). Cold, but indulgent, at least to me it is!
Not sure on syns but surely wouldn't be too many if you baked a banana with a few chocolate buttons in it?
Or does it have to be a proper dessert? Because an Options hot chocolate with squirty cream on top (I use the Anchor low fat one in the fridge section) is a gorgeous winter warmer!
My old consultant use to microwave the mincemeat hifi bars and serve with (you've guessed it) squirty cream on it. Could work with the other flavours?0 -

Poor thing - it sounds like you have been good too
I am on day 6 of Fast forward, and I think the things that are helping me shift some weight could be useful to you too. Over the next few days, try to MASSIVELY increase your portions of superfree food - I have noticed the superfree foods play an important role in FF (the other night I had a huge bowl of veg in tomato sauce, with about 10 pieces of pasta on the top :rotfl: :rotfl: I would normally be the other way around.
The other piece of advice (other than to stop weighing yourself midweek) would be to increase your water. For the past week I have had to have a 500ml bottle of water morning, afternoon and evening, plus extra water at meals
I'm sure you can do it!:D0 -
Hi Everyone, Bit of a newbie to SW here,
Joined 2 weeks ago and had my first weigh in on Wed, 2nd one coming up fast,
Lost 1.5 pounds last week so am trying to aim for 2lb a week, is that a good weight loss?? I didnt want to burn out by shockin my system but now that all the bad (fatty really lol) food is out, and the good syn free and low syns are in Im hoping to get good momentum going,
Does anyone have any good hints and tips I can try? Im gonna go read through some of the pages on here to get an idea of things...
Hope to get to know some of you,
Laura x :T0 -
Thanks Angie. I know, weighing midweek is bad, but it used to keep me really motivated. I haven't done it for a few weeks now and I'm not sure I'm glad I did this week!
Water is a really good point. I'll make sure I drink more. FF isn't something I know anything about. I only really know the green plan as I am veggie so red and mix2max is no good for me.
Is there somewhere you can direct me to have a read about it? Or have I missed it on the SW site?I saw two shooting stars last night

My weigh-in today and I lost a pound so I am pleased - I know my weight loss will be pretty slow and not too easy to acheive as I am quite near target.
Best thing is that some of my trousers do seem looser so I may yet get my wardrobe back.
i find Lunches a real hassle too and lately have been relying on soup a lot - it's so easy to chuck a load of stuff together and simmer!
Have a good day,0 -
Hi Ladies
Back after 4 weeks off plan and don't know yet how many pounds piled on!! (2 x holidays abroad and too many BBQ's!!)
I'm having to follow the plan at home as with all the rises in costs etc, I can't justify the money for getting weighed. And I've decided Monday night is weigh in night -mostly because I'm going to do the shopping tonight and start in the morn so will weigh before my tea!! Argggg
So I hope you don't mind if I butt in every now and then - I'm sure it'll mostly be for advice but I'll help where ever possibe!!
Could anyone PM me the password?
Also, somebody mentioned that they were having a tin of ravioli for lunch?? So is there a specific make of ravioli that's low in syns???
Lastly, Has anyone got any suggestions instead of Toffe Muller Lights??? I can't find any deals on at the mo and 54p per pot from Sainsbury's seems a lot as I'll generally eat 1 or 2 per day when I'm on SW??
Thanks peeps and speak soon!
