  • Oh, I know, it *is* only one week (hubbys birthday is next wednesday, so there is noooooooo way I am doing this past tuesday which would be 7 days).

By next wednesday I imagine the freedom and excitement of the standard SW plan will be fantastic! Even hubby (who bless him is doing this with me to support me - WOW! :A ) is looking forward to going back ON plan! He is imagining all his possible birthday suppers..... fish with chips, lamb kebabs with yoghurt dip, roast chicken - the endless possibilties of Slimming World!

LOL, fair play to your hubby! My OH started to do it with him, but I always found crisp packets etc in his car, so in the end I just said don't bother. He was paying to come to classes with me too but not even trying!

Though when I get down to his weight (under 2stone to go) the race will be on to get to our target weights!
  • Lol! Like the idea of a race!

No, DH doesn't go to class but has about the same amount to lose as me. So normally he does the SW plan and he eats what I eat, but this week he is doing Fast Forward with me too ! He works from home most days, so it is easy for us to eat the same - I like it when he goes to town for a meeting, has always asks what day we are on, and what ideas I have that would be good for him. He's a star really :D

I applaud you. One of our members did the fast forward plan and she said it was very very strict. :T:T:T I have struggled enough in recent months with the normal SW plan let alone an even stricter one. I hope you have a well deserved and fab meal on Wednesday :D

Well don't know what hapeened this week but managed to gain 1/2 lb, hand on heart I've been good and exercised everyday too! Tha last glitch I had , was when we had been eating a lot of salad, do you think this could be the reason? Do you find that certain foods affect your weight loss?

the body likes different foods so I try to vary everything as much as possible. different HEB etc. 1/2 pound isnt much and could be that your lunch is still inside you? Also if you have had more green days than red days, green foods take longer to work their way through your body.....

Are you eating enough. If not, your body will grumble and will hold on to what its got!

    Right. Finished dinner so this is what I've had today (drunk diet lemonade, diet coke and 1litre of water);

Brekkie - fruit salad (HM so I know whats in it) and low fat natural yoghurt (F)
    Snack - Banana (F)
Lunch - mushrooms (F) and scrambled egg (F) with a splash of milk (HEa) done in frylight with 2 sausages (F)
    Snack - yoghurt (F)
Dinner - Chicken (F) stuffed with quark (F) and garlic (F) wrapped in bacon (F) with mushroom stirfry (F) and jacket potato (over HEb weight so not sure how to syn it )
Just before bed we'll probably have our usual cup of tea splash of milk (HEa) and Hi-Fi Bar (HEb)

    Whaddya think?

I think it will help others if you do this too. I personally would like to see what others are eating - give me some ideas!

Has anyone got any ideas for a quick meal when you are really tired and can't be bothered?

You raise an interesting question. The SW plan is great but does involve a considerable amount of planning and preparation. supermarkets trips have to be given careful consideration etc.

I try to plan my SW menus at least a week in advance, sometimes two weeks. I then have at least a basic idea of what Im going to be eating each day and what it involves. sometimes I have a red and green option so I can just decide what i fancy on the day.

I also try to cut corners. For example, if Im having jacket chips for tea, I cook the potatoes as jackets in the morning (in my microwave). I leave them to cool in the oven during the day and then all I have to do when I get home is slice them up and stick them in the oven on a tray sprayed with fry light. I have also found out that they crisp up better when they are cold. I then only have to cook my eggs and serve up the ham.

Beans on toast is an easy filling meal. to make it a bit more tasty, spread a laughing cow extra light triangle on your toast and add chives to your beans for extra flavour. Worcestershire sauce is free so you could add that. Most of the heinz mean beanz (certainly sweet chilli, italian, mexican, smoky bbq are free on green) so there are plenty of options available.

The other week I made up a batchelors rice and cooked in a separate pan some quorn sausages and mushrooms. It was actually quite tasty and made for a quick lunchtime snack.

I think the trick is to prepare as much as you can before you are tired. I get through my front door sometimes all I want to do is eat, immediately. Last week I had jacobs crackers on my side (only 1.5 syns each ) Ive binned them now but whilst they were there, I couldnt stop picking. One of the members at my class suggested I prepare some carrot sticks / peppers sticks for those must eat right now moments or the morrisons eat smart sausages.

Ive also found that when Ive been shopping and Ive picked up say Mccain home fries for my OH to have as a treat, i find myself adding some for me because when its there sitting in my freezer, my willpower vanishes, so I think its best to not buy things you know you will be tempted with in the first place.

Although its more expensive, you can buy lots of pre-prepared veg which will save you chop chop chop when you get home. Its certainly much more expensive but if it saves you time and ensures you have a healthy wholesome meal then its got to be good.

stir frys are a good option and again you can either buy a pre-prepared one or make one of your choice.

i quite like the stagg silverdale beef chilli. the syn value is below. As you will see, its lots on a red day but add this to some jackets on a green day plus a HEA of cheese and it makes for a yummy tasty snack. I hope this has given you some ideas.

This is always my problem...trying not to eat too much, even of free foods, and yet trying not to eat too little as well.

I have given up Mullerlights and bananas. I was eating far too many of both and don't believe they were really helping. I am also trying to cut out 90% of my potatoes because being free on green days (I've given up meat so I don't do red) I seem to eat too many - 2 large jacket spuds today. I'm just being greedy.

I'm being 100% "syn free" this week...none at all so far. I have no great need for them, my willpower on this is still stronger than any craving for particular foods.

So now being 100% on free foods, my only remaining issue is amounts. I know they are theoretically unlimited, but I am still doing "free food binges" and it's not helping - besides leaving me feeling bloated and unwell.

I've solved half the problem (eating unhealthy things) now I need to solve the other half (the amounts) and I'm not there yet.

hmmmm just glanced at your post again and noticed your comment about your exercise. I seem to recall that one of our members who was training for the london marathon didnt lose some weeks because of all the exercise he was doing. It might be worth having a chat with your consultant about.
