Welcome Spender, I can really relate to you about not going out because of not feeling confident I am exactly the same.

Lets hope we can shop like we want to and then enjoy going out without feeling bad about ourselves.

Good luck at WI tonight amie399 x

    Morning all

Well, this diet is doing wonders for my liver - I had a couple of drinks last night, and felt awful this morning :o I thought all those syns might have made me put weight on, but weighed myself this morning (hope consultant31 is still away and doesn't see this :D ), and unless it catches up later, think I have got away with it.

Got some lean mince out for dinner, but not sure what to do with it - I have a recipe from someone at my meeting, so might try this :-

    400g lean mince
    1 chopped onion
    400g can of baked beans
    4 tbsp tomato passata
3 tbsp sweet chilli sauce (3.5 syns)
    1 tbsp mixed herbs

    Topping

    675g peeled and cut potatoes
    200g sweetcorn - drained
    3 tbps skimmed milk
    1 tbsp fresh chopped parsley

    Preheat oven to 190 deg
Make topping by boiling potatoes and mashing with sweetcorn, milk & parsley
Fry the mince and onion for 4-6 mins, add beans, passata and chilli sauce. Bring to boil & simmer for 5-7 mins, transfer to ovenproof dish
Top with potato mix & bake for 20 mins

    From Bringmeshoes post :

Are tinned tomatoes free? I make a lovely sausage casserole which i reckon should be quite low syn. Can anyone advise....

    sausages (i can use quorn)
    1 tin tomatoes
400ml gravy (i could use bovril to make free?)
    mushrooms
    peppers
    onion
    mustard seeds
    coriander
    2 red chillis

Fry mustard seeds, chillis and onions. Add mushrooms, sausages, peppers and cook for a few minutes. Add tinned tomatoes + gravy. Simmer for 20mins or so, add coriander near end of cooking time.

I reckon this would be free on a green day so could serve with jacket potatoes and veg??
I am really intrigued by this recipe and just wondered whether you thought this would work???

    Green version
    mustard seeds
    Quorn sausages
    button mushrooms
    2 chillis
    peppers
    Tin of Italian Mean Beanz
    Tin of tomatos
    served with jacket chips

So following bringmeshoes recipes but instead of the gravy, mean beanz?

    Red Version
Morrisons Eat Smart sausages or Sainsburys Be Good to Yourself, Extra Lean Pork Cumberland Sausages, 8 pack, chilled 57g each
    button mushrooms
    peppers
    chillis
    tin of tomatos
    gravy (made with bovril)

only difference - red version cooked in oven rather than green version which I would cook on hob.

Can anyone offer any other suggestions or improvements?

nb what is this medal business all about anyway????

can you use mince as a HEB on a gree day then? wonder if it'd work with quorn mince? anyone know?

    thanks

Can't see why Quorn mince wouldn't work, the only problem is the length of cooking time - when I cooked Quorn mince in the slow cooker, it was disgusting and tasted like plastic

The recipe says serves 4, so your share would be 100g of uncooked pork mince which does show as a HEB in the book - you would only be allowed 85g of beef mince.

Good luck with the weigh in later
