Hello.
i am gatecrashing your party! i have now been doing SW for about 14 months and have lost 4stone so far but I have hit a big cloud of depression and my weight loss seems to have ground to a halt. i am dong all the right things like filling up on Superfree foods, drinking plenty of water but I cant seem to shift the pounds because i have lost the motivation to do any exercise. its lovely to read all the posts on this thread because some of you are in exactly the same boat as me and some of you are inspirational!
E
Wo!! 4 stone Earth - that is brilliant!! I am in awe!:T :T :T
I'm no expert but I do think you need to get back to exercising to shift the next bit. I am a firm believer in exercising making you feel better (even if you're not in the mood when you start out). Is there any different or unusual sport or exercise you could try? Belly-dancing? Rambling? Skating? Yoga? Cycling? Just a thought, sometimes you need something to break the monotony. Like me - I love anything outside but the idea of going to a gym makes me feel depressed! I hate being inside and I'm not keen on watching people sweat and I always think gyms smell horrible!:p0 -

Time to try the meat and egg loaf that is in the 100 original recipe book (which I won at SW raffle last week). Ive already tried the tuna quiche which is yummy, as soon as Ive tried the loaf ill let you know how nice (or minging) it is and post recipes if anyone is interested
I like the meat & egg loaf so do all my family!:j
I often do the Cottage Loaf (P 62) and it's yummy cold.
Egg & bacon quiche (P 70) is fab too. AGain, lovely cold.
Liver stroganoff (P79) gorgeous
Spicy Thai Bites (P 85) are to die for!!:j
Stuffed Marrow (P 90) I did last night but I make mine a bit more Mediterranean - I leave out the dressing and add turmeric, cummin, tomatoes, garlic and coriander. That is so delicious.0 -

I'd love the recipes. Please post when you can.
Hi Emma, i'll post the recipes below. And I agree Pennylane, the meat and egg loaf is nice, I forgot to put the tomato puree in though so it was a bit bland, but nice all the same. Very filling!!! And, how much fat came off the meat??!!! Im sure thats not right!! I was surprised, especially with the meat being extra lean!!!
So here you go, here are the 2 recipes Ive tried so far from the 100 original recipe book, and both are very nice!!and free on original!!!
Tuna Quiche (page 40)
Serves 6
1 medium onion, chopped
3 rashers lean bacon, finely chopped
4 eggs
salt and pepper to taste
pinch of rosemary (optional)
2 70oz/198g tuna in brine
1 tomato, sliced
2 mushrooms, sliced
Preheat the oven to 190C/Gas 5. Dry fry the onion with the bacon until onion is soft. Place in a shallow ovenproof dish. Beat the eggs with the seasoning. Drain the tuna well and flake. Add to the dish with the bacon and onion, and then pour beaten egg over the top. Arrange the slices of tomato and mushroom on top. Bake in the oven for 30 minutes or until set and golden brown. Serve hot or cold.
I personally left the bacon in full pieces and made a "base" in the dish, topped with onion and tuna and it was scrummy!!
Meat and Egg Loaf (page 90)
Serves 4
340g/12oz extra lean minced beef
1 level tbsp tomato puree
pepper
pinch nutmeg
pinch dried thyme
1 large egg raw
1 small onion finely chopped
0.5 level tsp salt
1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
pinch of allspice
1 level tsp finely chopped parsley
2 hard boiled eggs
Preheat oven to 190C/Gas 5. put all ingredients in a bowl, except the hard bolied eggs, and combine thoroughly. Shape the meat mixture into a flat rectangle and place the hard boiled eggs down the centre. Roll the meat around the eggs. Place in a small (1lb) lined loaf tin, cover with foil and cook for 45 - 55 minutes. Remove the foil and cook for a further 10 minutes to brown the top. Serve hot or cold.
I personally didnt have all the spices and things listed, I just had meat, onion, pepper, salt, dried mixed herbs and chilli powder as thats all I have in my cupboard at the moment. Like I said, I forgot to put the tomato puree in, which made it a bit bland, but it was still nice, and very very filling!!!!!!! You have been warned!!! :rotfl:You're so very special, I wish I was special :dance:0 -

Well folks,
I've had a nice surprise tonight. I thought I would have put on tonight or STS as I've not been feeling the best last week and I've missed a few meals. Haven't felt hungry though. I've lost 2.5 pounds!!! I'm pretty focused on my weight loss at the mo though, so even though I'm feeling depressed I'm not seeking comfort in junk food (I could eat crisps, chips and burgers for Scotland!) or Alcohol (as usually when I feel the way I am right now I want to drink myself into oblivion) I suppose you could say I'm making the right choices these days!
Sorry for droning on so much about how I feel but I find I feel a bit better after getting it all out and I can be more open and honest here than anywhere else.
Well done to all this weeks losers :j STS and gainers remember tomorrow is a fresh start!0 -
(I'm still a newbie but also known as naturally, as and when the computer agrees with me!)
Oh poo I'm right down in the dumps.I have been stop/starting class for a while now, and I stopped going to class a few weeks ago as I really wasn't motivated. Got on the scales tonight and a big shock - the heaviest I have ever been.
I am on a date tomorrow night and can't wear my prettiest top as when I sit down my spare tyre is waaay too obvious - so I am wearing a baggy "safe" top instead. Oh well one way to test if he likes me for my personality I suppose!
I really can't decide what to do for the best. I am just about to order a set of bathroom scales (mine as SO unreliable, before I moved them to a different part of the floor they shew me as 2 stone less but I knew that wasn't right, and the heaviest they showed would be about right from how tight I feel my clothes are) but don't know if I should just swallow the weekly cost of class and go back - but it wasn't doing the job it used to do of motivating me so I don't think there's any point in wasting the money on class. Think I'm just going to have to be good by myself, at least if I have some decent scales they can be constant reminders/rewards. I don't know whether or not to do a different diet - but I know slimming world works when I put my mind to it, and the thought of WW or other fills me with dread.
Sorry, just a bit of a being fat sucks post, I'm not normally like this! Has anyone been in this frame of mind or position and got themselves out? ANy advice very gratefully received!!Nothing tastes as good as riding a horse feels0 -
well done scroogey, that is amazing! Well done you
skintslimmer..I have frequently had moments like you before I joined slimming world..but now I make sure I keep going to class, even the weeks when I am expecting a gain. The motivation from other members and my consultant spurs me on. Good luck with the date..let your personality shine0 -
Skintslimmer, I've had times when I've felt like that and it's so disheartening. I'm really glad I joined SW last week. I'd tried many times to lose weight on my own and always gave up after a short time.
Think of how much better you'll look and feel when you're the size you want to be, and it may give you the motivation. I know if you rejoin it means finding the money for the class each week, but you won't be spending on all the fattening stuff. It'll help you to feel more positive and that you're doing something to change the situation. And we're all here to support each other.0
