Well done Trishaa, 4lbs is brilliant! Do you get a sticker for every 7lbs lost, and what other awards do they give?

Thanks Emma, you get a sticker for everytime you lose, like a smiley face, but when you lose half stone, you get a special 1/2 stone sticker. and then i think you get one when uve lost a stone, then 1 1/2, and so on. they also give slimmer of the week stickers, for the person who has lost most in the week within the group.

Skintslimmer, I know exactly how you feel. I got on the scales at weigh in yesterday, and knew I hadn't lost as I have been playing at the diet all week, well for the past few weeks actually. I told my consultant I was getting a bit fed up with the diet, and I think she is worried I will stop going.

I won't stop as I know I will put all the weight back on (and more besides), so I will try to refocus and get back on track. One day when I was feeling a bit demotivated, I filled a couple of carrier bags with 17 lbs of tins and could hardly lift them. That was the weight I have lost so far, and want to lose the same again.

I bought some Weight Watchers scales from Argos, they do 1/4 lbs, and they are fantastic. I know they weigh 1/2 more than the SW scales, so I know more or less what is coming before I go to weigh in. I know you shouldn't keep weighing yourself, but I find it really useful to weigh myself every day, and if I see my weight creeping back up, I get really focused.
You're only young once, but you can be immature forever :D

(naturally by day, skint slimmer by night)

Thanks guys, you're brilliant! I have ordered some electronic scales for home and for the £21 I spent on them thought I'd give it a month of trying it at home with them, spending roughly the money I'd spend at class on them instead. I find the £4.25 or whatever it is at class is a false figure, as I always buy loads of the hifi bars when I could get better value for money HEBs from the supermarket! If it doesn't work I will have to plod along to a class again.

I think I needed to hit a low to get my motivation back, if that makes sense. For a while now I've been happy at my (fat) weight - having put on 7lbs more I feel fat and 'orrible, which was how I think I needed to feel to be motivated to lose, if that makes sense.

CONSULTANT 31,can I check how many syns these are?As I understand the plan using the chick peas uncooked and ground up should mean they have to be synned?Or does the extra long soaking 'cook' them?

Ah well...............I had this in my folder of 'syn-free recipes', but that was from back in the day before SW's nutritionist found out how inventive we can be with making cakes using chickpeas, polenta and the like :)

Strictly speaking I suppose the chickpeas should be synned since they are being ground down, but I'm sure that you're not going to eat them all day, every day are you?? In this instance, I'm inclined to count them as free, provided they are eaten in moderation (ie. now and agin) - if you find the weight loss slowing, that's the time to rethink!
I let my mind wander and it never came back!

Well done Scroogey and Trishaa for the loses and also to Bringmeshoes - sometimes staying the same hen you've had a bad week is as motivating as losing, isn't it?
Last night I had a really lovely free on green dish fro the curry book -it's delish,

    Khichri.

4 oz dreid yellow split peas
    8 oz dry basmati rice
    1 onion, chopped
    2 garlic cloves, cruched
4 cardamon pods (I used a tsp of ground cardamon)
    1 in piece cinnamon stick
    1 tdp whole cumin seeds
1 pt chicken stock made with bovril (I used vecon)
    1 tdp tumeric
    1/2 tsp salt
    3-4 tbsp chopped fresh coriander.

Mix rice and peas together wash and then soak in cold water for 2-3 hours (I covered them with boiling water and soaked for 1.5 hours -seemed to work)
    Drain.
Mix onion, garlic, cardamon, cinnamon, cumin seeds and half the stock togetehr in a pan, bring to boil and simmer for 10 mins, uncover and simmer for a further 20 mins until onions are tender and syrupy.
Add rice mixture to pan with turmeric and salt, stir and cook for 2-3 mins.
Add rest of stock , bring to boil and then simmer for 20-25 minutes until all liquid absorbed (you may need to add a little extra liquid)
Fork through hot khrchri before serving with coriander leaves.

Lovely with yoghurt and mango chutney (sinned) and had lots of fibre so good to keep things going - this seems to be a recurring theme here at the moment!
  • Another 'wooooo hooo' from me as I have lost another 1.5lb, making 12lb in total :D:D

I couldn't make my usual weigh in last night, so I visited my old class that weigh in on wed am - I am very pleased with the loss :)

Only 2 lb now until my stone .... but... I am off on a two week holiday to france next tuesday, hmmmm, we shall see. The steak and the salad - great!! the wine, bread and cheese? could be my downfall

Hubby got to his 1 stone this morning, so he is 'all for a holiday' and is quite accepting that he might put on 2 or 3 lb. I however would love to keep optimising 80% of the time, and am hopeful to stay the same (or dare I even mention losing a teeny bit?)..... I don't think that this difference of opinion/attitude is going to be easy somehow.

I am happy to stay on red for the holiday - I think it will be easier in France to do this. My strategy is going to have to be a neutral (zero syn, no HE's) breakfast - eg speed fruits and yogurt, or eggs, tomatoes and bacon. lunch - I'm struggling here as this will probably be out and about, and we are likely to eat the same.... dinner food optimise (steak, seafood, salad etc) with wine (synned) and cheese (He)

do you think this could work?
