    hello,

trying to get my head around SW still with the help of the magazine and website as no classes in my area at suitable times.

on green days can I eat freely vegetables and on red days meat/carbs?

    sorry if i sound dim.

after watching ITV's big baby program last night, i am more determined to shift some of this lard.

    xxx

Green free food - all veg, fruit (not chopped, blended or otherwise)potatoes, dried pasta, plain/savoury rice etc (be careful with flavoured ones - some have syns)
Red free food - most veg (not parsnips, beans, peas or potato), fruit, unadulterated meat and fish/seafood.

meat is measured on a green day as a Healthy Extra, potato is measured on a red day as a Healthy Extra.

Cheese, milk, bread and cereals (and other things!) are always measured as your Healthy A and B choices,

I always think the main idea is to have loads of carbs and a little protein (green days) or loads of protein and a little carb (red day) but never mixing them equally!

Hope this helps a bit more.

    catt xx

Thanks Skint_Catt for the information. Very helpful indeed.

Going to have a good read through of the information I have printed off tonight, when I hope my brain has recovered from work (which I doubt).

    Thanks again

well amsterdam caught up with me, i put on 2.5lbs this week, was less than i thought but i havent has a loss in a few weeks (my birthday lasted 3 weeks!!) so i have to kick my butt ready for my next holiday in september, i've been good this week and not used any syns (i always save mine for a treat at the weekend-usually a curry) but today i had to have a tooth out and i look like the elephant man now. ive bought some ben & jerrys ice cream but its purely medicinal to sooth the swelling when i can eat again :D
anyone think i can class it as speed food as ive only bought it to help my sore mouth :rotfl: :rotfl:

Hi, I am new to slimming world and have lost 5lbs in the first week!!!!! YES!

I have about 3 stone to loose, some baby weight, but mainly because I haven't really been on the ball dietwise since having my little boy.

Although I had a great first week, I am still struggling with the concept a little.

Can some kind person help me with this question, it may seem common sense but my consultant hasn't really answered for me.

If I eat LESS of the free foods will I loose MORE weight? I understand that I can eat as much free foods as I like and loose weight, but will I loose MORE by eating less (but still a reasonable amount) of them?

IE today I made a free quiche using 4 eggs (plus peppers, mushrooms, low fat cottage cheese) and I am ashamed to say I wolfed the lot down for breakfast. Can I still loose weight as this is free?

    Appreciate any advice!

a lot of people new to sw can't believe how much you can eat and still lose weight (i was one of them!!) i eat more now then i did before
you can eat as much free food as you like until you feel full, try to eat as many 'speed' and superspeed' foods in as you can as this will aid your weightloss even more

The opposite actually - free food is low density, low calorie, so the more you eat of these, you will feel full and lose MORE weight thank if you had a little free foods and then filled up with your HEA/B's and syns. (You still must have your HEA/B's for a balanced diet plus a few synned treats to keep you on the straight and narrow!)
It sounds strange - but it DOES work!
