    Hi all.

Someone at our group was flabbergasted at how many syns are in fruit smoothies and found the concept of blended fruit and fruit juices a little confusing. So it got me thinking of making something similar.

I am constantly trying to come up with ways to make Quark palatable to me as I find it pretty bleeurgh on its own so will share with you my new recipe.

    Syn free (substitute type) Smoothie

    Dollop of Quark
    Dollop of Total 0%
    sweetener
Any flavour Muller Light or syn free yoghurt (I used Raspberry/ Cranberry)
    Sugar free Cloudy Lemonade.

Whizz up in a blender - then sit back and be amazed that you are drinking something so creamy and naughty tasting which is in fact syn free!

    Another version

    Very Low fat yoghurt
Crusha Strawberry sugar free Milk shake syrup
    Cloudy lemonade

    Whizz up in blender.

You can also get a sugar free Cloudy grapefruit (I got Waitrose but am sure Morrisons do one for half the price).

If you buy a tub of Quark and the Total you will have plenty for making lots of syn free smoothie type drinks.

I think the variations could be endless and you could always chop up some strawberries to add the speed slim factor.

    Hi everyone

:o Sorry I'm not all that chirpy at the moment - I am trying to decide where to go from here, and how to proceed with this weight loss project thingy.....

I DO like slimming world - It allows me to eat the kind of food I like, and in truth, the kind of food I have always eaten. It helps me limit my drinking, and be 'better behaved' when eating out.... however, tasty and nice as it is, I am not actually losing weight.

I have about 2 stone to lose. I lost 3 lb in the first two weeks - I believe a direct result of immediate habit changes - halved wine consumption, no butter/oil in cooking, elimination of 'patisserie style' treats every evening (lol - cakes, puddings etc!). Stopped having a takeaway every friday. etc.

I have kept all of these changes, but during the next 6 weeks I have lost only 1.5 lb which is a bit rubbish.

    I write everything down (everything!!)
    I drink lots of water
I keep within my daily syns, usually using 8.5 each weekday, 14 at weekends.
    I weigh my B options,
I use red and green almost equally, and occasionally mix2max
I cook everything from scratch (always have), so no hidden syns in jars/packets etc
    I am not hungry
I do not eat between meals (never have really)
    I use 1 A and 2 B's daily -- rarely do I use my second a.
In the last 6 weeks I have been 'naughty' twice (one chinese takeaway, one fish and chips)

Is is just that SW isn't the plan for me? (which would be a shame as I find WW too bossy, and self control alone aint gonna shift it) - I like to have rules set, and then I can stick to them.

moan moan - :o sorry - I wouldn't mind the hard work if it was working. It is good that it isn't going ON, but with all this work it should be coming OFF!

    help:confused:

Angie - 3 years ago I was feeling just like you! I have read your list carefully and you are SO like me. YEARS ago (20+) I cut out sugar and went onto skimmed milk. I like 3 good meals a day and never "pick" in between. I cook from scratch wherever possible and LOVE just about every fruit and veg and barely drink alcohol. I used to smoke but stopped 3 and a half years ago.

When I stopped I put on more weight and after six months started at SW. I stuck to it for about 6 weeks and lost about half a pound. I was so disappointed and the consultant couldn't understand it either. She seemed to think that my metabolism had slowed down since I stopped smoking as did my GP. I'm not sure whether GP really meant it or whether she said it so I didn't get stressed & start smoking again!

SO I gave up on SW and just did my own thing until recently. This time around I AM losing weight with SW - a stone off now - and the only thing I can see that I'm doing differently is I have virtually cut out bread. I might have one small slice a week and count it as syns. I feel much better without it. I do plenty of exercise (as I've always done).

I know I'm ramblng ANgie - but could it be your metabolism, have you stopped smoking or could you try cutting out bread & see what happens? I really hope you progress soon.
  • Oh poor you, Angie, you're really struggling aren't you? I don't have any answers (I'm sure someone on here will have some good ideas) but the only thing I have noticed is that when I went through a phase of eating a lot of free Mullerlights and HEB Alpen Lights, the weight was slow to shift. I think the only answer is loads of fruit and veg. Could something like this be a factor for you?

    Thanks for the ideas -

I eat about 8 - 10 portions of fruit and veg a day
I eat bread as HEB about twice a week now (used to be a big downfall - homemade bread and butter mmmmmmmmm)
gave up smoking 12 years ago.....
eat a muller each day for brekkie...

    ?????
