a slow cooker is the best thing if you don't have alot of time.just prep your veg/meat/pulses the night before, pop in the fridge then chuck into the slow cooker (add any dried herbs/free seasoning you fancy - fresh stuff is best added towards the end of cooking to retain its flavour more) whilst you're making your morning cuppa.leave on lowest setting depending how long you will be out of the house, get home, boil spuds/rice/pasta or grill meat/fish/quorn,et voila - dinner for lots of people!
you can pick up new slow cookers quite cheaply or try freecycle, also they are very energy efficient compared to using ovens and gas hobs.be warned though, once you get used to slow cooking its addictive.i have to MAKE myself use the oven sometimes!
i've got a slow cooker and do use it quite regularly, not as much as I should as I get home from work at midnight and then shower and right to bed, get up at 6.50 and then out the door by 7.30. Maybe I should start getting up earlier!! LOL
Its only me and OH so I'm quite pleased that I can then still use the packets and half the syns!0 -
Thanks all...I'll defo be trying the fruit and yoghurt for brekkie and i always try and drink lots of water. I think its not really tips i need but a motivational kick up the bum.:D
I brought the new mag today and there seems to be some nice recipes including a syn free pizza with a potato base so i'll defo be trying that one. Can someone please pm me the password. I forgot to look at WI this morning:beer:Team Edward :smileyhea0 -
I'm using my slow cooker this evening. We had a BBQ yesterday and there were "real" sausages left so I've put them, with my Quorn sausages, in the slow cooker with onion, mushrooms, red pepper and a Sausage casserole packet mix. We'll have it with mashed potatoes, peas and sweetcorn. 6 Syns for the 3 sausages, and 2.5 Syns for the sauce mix makes 8.5 Syns, that's all the Syn's I'm having today.
Breakfast was raspberries, blueberries and a Muller light
Lunch was 2 wholemeal rolls (HEB), each spread with 2 x Laughing cow cheese (HEA) with turkey (HEB) and lettuce.
Haven't felt the need to snack in between as I've been drinking lots today - lots of water and a couple of diet Pepsis.
I know this weeks new password if anyone wants it. MrandMrsEvans I'll PM it to you.

I made the pizza at the weekend. Thought it looked lovely in the magazine and I have to say, the one I made looked fab as well.
BUT ... eating it was very disappointing. There was far too much base, I think it said 6 large potatoes, if I do it again I'll only use 3 or 4.
I put extra ham (HEB) on top as well as some Synned slicec Salami and to be truthful I'm pleased I did, because otherwise it would have just been dry mash with tomato sauce and melted cheese on top ...... so definitely put something on it apart from the tomato and cheese
If you do make it, don't expect it to taste like one from Dominos!!!

TG xxxShame - pizza is my weakness!
Well done on your fab loss! :T0 -
sorry for the delay with this recipe (been out all day) - it may be too late for some of you now
It is a bit of a fiddle, but they are REALLY yummy, and they freeze very well too (before the cooking stage)
abridged from SW Curry Feast
Makes 18 (although I got 24)
green - 1 syn each
red - 2 syns each
1 tbsp mild curry powder
1 tsp amchoor (dried mango powder) - makes it 'tangy' you could leave this out, but it is better with
400g potatoes, boiled, crushed (mashed)
110g peas
4tbsp chopped coriander leaves
1 fresh red chilli, chopped
3 (or 4) large sheets filo (each sheet makes 6)
frylight on non stick frying pan over medium heat. add the curry powder, amchoor, potatoes and peas, stir fry for 4 - 5 mins. add the coriander and chilli, season with salt, set aside to cool.
heat oven to 190/ gas 5
lay out your filo - work quickly! keep unused filo under a tea towel (etc) so they don't dry out
cut filo in half widthways. then cut each half into 3 even strips lengthways, giving a total of 6 pieces per sheet.
lightly spray your first strip with frylight. add a tsp of filling at the bottom of the strip, and fold the pastry diagonally to enclose the filling and make a triangle. fold the filled triangle over and over again until you get to the end of the strip. This is actually easy to do, but impossible to explain!!
repeat with all remaining strips and filling.
freeze at this stage if wanted.
place the parcels in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment (etc). spray the samosa with frylight and bake for 15-20 mins or until golden brown and crisp.

Yes I knew white rolls have to be sinned. I really really hate wholemeal rolls with a passion so I'm not qutie sure what I'm going to do there tbh!! LOL I work two jobs so don't have a huge amount of time to prepare lunches!! LOL
I've worked out that a level tbsp of light mayo is 1.5 syns and the rolls are 5.5 syns each.
As an alternative, 2 slices of white nimble bread count as an HEB - would that help to save your syns?0
