If you chopped your Banana you need to Syn it . A whole banana is free, but as soon as you chop or mush it you have to count it - from memory, a small mushed one is 6 Syns

This is partly right - any fruit which is pulped, stewed, cooked, pureed or made into a smoothy has to be synned - but chopping fruit is fine and is syn-free.

Oh no they are only 33cals a cup I thought they could be my treat

Ah well, since you know the calorie value, it would seem they aren't as high in syns as I originally thought.

It's difficult to work out an accurate syn value, there are so many variables, but as a rule of thumb (not to be taken as gospel) you can count 1 syn for 20 calories - please note, this doesn't work for everything.

So, if you count 2 syns for your coffee and see how your weight loss goes, you should be able to tell if they can be continued or you have to cut back on them.

why do you need to syn it if it is chopped?
My consultant made a big thing about this the other week. Almost had one woman in tears about it. She said if you chop banana up, you are changing the digestive properties of it - ie. you dont have to chew as much so you nee to Syn it.

Hey TG, did you find the recipe's I put on for you?
No! Just had another look through this thread and can't see anything??

I ended up buying some healthy dips from Asda and serving them with cherry tomatoes, cauli florets, cocktail sausages, sliced cucumber, pepper and carrot. Also got some Doritos and salsa. Went down well, I just had the raw veg and did have a glass of wine - what a waste of 6 Syns, I didnt really enjoy it!!!

    TG xx

 What a terrible thing to do to any member of a slimming club - surely the consultant in this case is there to support her members, teach, inform, inspire and guide, not almost reduce them to tears...

I guess there could be a level of confusion about what is considered to 'chop' (which is of course, only an action of a knife) .... I would 'slice' a banana into 'chunks', this would simply prepare it for eating, and in no way would it change the digestive properties. If however I were to 'finely chop' (as you would, for example, an onion - reducing it to its smallest possible size) this could be similar to 'mash' or 'puree' (in a softer fruit), and indeed would change the properties.

would lightly grilling a ring of pineapple or a banana in its skin mean i would have to syn it? it's not exactly cooking it - its hardly on the grill at all.

also i like mashed banana on toast - does that have to be synned?

Hi Nessa, I have only done Mix2Max once myself (last Tuesday), to me it looks just like you did it fine.... you did the same as me as it happens, green lunch, red tea, HE's as snacks, no puds or starters to worry about.

I found it really satisfying, and I was really pleased, how did you find today went?

Yeh, I think it went okay, I found it satisfying and not so boring as just green all day or hungry as if on a red all day,

I think I may do a few more of those, just to keep it interesting.
