Hi everyone - just back from my first week wi, where I lost 1.5lb....

....I know I should be pleased, but really, I thought I had lost quite a bit more, I have followed the plan to the letter, staying within syns (using them on alcohol mainly) our cooking and eating habits have changed massively...

I *know* I should be pleased, but I am feeling rather despondant and flat right now.

Please don't get disheartened, a healthy weight loss is 1 to 2 lbs a week, yes some people do lose a lot of weight in the first week but that is generally proportional to the amount they have to lose.

If like to remind myself of how well i'm doing by looking at how big old clothes are on me now, i only kept one set of old clothes (the first clothes i got weighed in) and it's amazing when you see it like that.

Keep going don't get disheartened and remember 9lbs for a dress size (not a big thing for a guy but for some reason it sticks in my head)

666paw - angie loves veg - don't get disheartened - keep at it.

The first time I did SW I lost 4lbs in my first week and was so chuffed. Stuck to it again liek glue - and put on 0.5lb in my second week. I was in tears in front of all the class, but I kept with it and went on to lose 3.5 stone in 5 months.

I'm taking the scenic route this time (up down and around!) but do stick with it as it'll all be worth it in the end!

I suppose a lot of the first week big losses we see are down to loss of water more so than anything else so I wouldn't be too despondent Angie.

Alcohol is my weakness so I'll probably be the same come Monday as I know I'm not drinking enough water, even though it's probably more than I usually do. I reckon alcohol plays havoc with water retention so perhaps a week without the alcohol syns might show a bigger loss next week. I'll see how I go in this first week and drop the wine next week if it's the same for me. I need to get it down anyway.

If you're sticking to it to the letter, it'll come off and it'll be regular good losses like that first week - they mount up quickly with how fast time seems to fly by lately.

Angie, 1.5 is a good loss:T well done you! And sometimes you don't see a huge loss because of water retention; it may drop more next week. The fact that you've changed your eating habits is really good and it will pay dividends in your weight and health if you keep going, I promise you xxx

    Take care

    P.

666 you are so near your target now, so a little bit longer won't hurt. My target is so far away it is out of sight:o I bet you look great!

    Hi all,

Well done to all losers and maintainers.

Can you answer me a question please - I can't get to WI tonight, but can I post a result using my home scales (they usually are within 1/2lb of the SW scales)????

Hi angie I only lost 1.5 as well but I think it is because I am not very active so not burning it off as quick.
I did try to go for a walk on Tuesday but had to turn back as I was in too much pain..
Think I will try again tonight and not be too ambitious this time.
