  • i've lost about 3 lbs so i spose heartache is good for something:T .my iceland shopping just came so i've been busy arranging freezer drawers into nice organised sections;meat, fish, rice, veg, etc.all treat things and ready meals in a separate freezer!i think that even if i'm not really eating i should still try and stick to the plan:rolleyes:

am slowly slowly unpacking my new 'home'.doesn't feel very homely though.bloke has !!!!!!ed off and STILL won't talk to me  (we were engaged !!!!!!),son in room staring at tv with a bad back and daughter on the isle of wight with her school.normally i'd love the peace and space but at the mo it just feels empty.

i'm keeping my chin up,as everyone keeps telling me to.in fact i think it's nearly on the ceiling!it's just that my heart feels like it's in my stomach......:o

    ((hugs)) Kelly

I am going through the same thing, OH left with no warning just over a week ago.

Have totally gone off food - i weighed myself yesterday morning and have lost 7lbs ooops.

erm...... does that mean 3.5 per sausage, or 3.5 per pack of 6 sausages?....... I ask not really because of this product, more that I am struggling to understand the syns online database....:o

I've got the best recipe for Chilli ever. I've only just started Slimming World (yesterday) but I've just tried to work out the syns for it as it's delish. Am I about right do you think? I did this much at the weekend to feed 10 people and it did that easily. I'm going to make another batch and freeze it into individual portions in all of my old takeaway curry plastic trays. I make it less than 4 syns for a good sized portion and if I serve it with some salad & a teaspoon or two of sour cream, that should make a perfect meal on a red day, shouldn't it. Thinking about it, I might get some of those little gem lettuces and spoon the chilli into the leaves to dunk in the sour cream. Perhaps some grated cheese to go on top too as a Healthy Extra A. mmmmm!

1 tbsp olive oil (6 syns) - this could be dropped I suppose
    2 onions, chopped (free)
    2 garlic cloves, crushed (free)
1kg/2¼lb lean minced beef (20 syns max)
2 glasses red wine (9 syns max)
    2x400g cans chopped tomatoes (free)
3 tbsp tomato puree (1.5 syns)
    ½ tsp chilli powder (free)
    1 tsp ground cumin (free)
    1 tsp ground coriander (free)
    pinch ground cinnamon (free)
good shake of Worcestershire sauce (free)
1 beef stock cube (1.5 syns)
salt and freshly ground black pepper (free)
1 x 400g can red kidney beans, drained (HB)
1 large bunch coriander leaves, roughly chopped (free)

Using a great big pan, brown the mince/onions in a tablespoon of olive oil, breaking up all the mince. Then add the red wine to the mince, whack the gas up and burn off the alcohol (this should reduce the syns in the wine but I've counted them anyway) for a few minutes. Add the tinned tomatoes, tomato puree, chilli powder, ground cumin, ground coriander, Worcestershire sauce and the stock cube. Bring to boil again and then just simmer with the lid on for about an hour, stirring occasionally until it thickens up. Then, drain and add the kidney beans for about another 10-15 minutes. Chop and add the fresh coriander right before serving and away you go. Gorgeous - and if you freeze the rest, you've got ready made meals on tap

It says 50g each so I presume this is each sausage - you may have to weigh them to check - but usually its not the pack unless stated.
  • green1970 - if you're having on a red day the meat is free.i would leave out the olive oil (i love it too but would rather use on salad as an heb) and the only thing you'd need to syn would be the kidney beans, wine and stock cube.i also think it would taste just as nice with a bit less wine to cut down on syns.
