will any of these suggestions get rid of the colour in the top, cos it has coloured trim on the edges? forgot to mention that in the last post lol!0

I haven't looked at colour run remover for years, but when I did get it in the past, you couldn't use it with anything with colour on it. Things may well have changed, but i'd read the instructions carefully before you buy/use any!! ( code for don't do what i often do, go shopping without reading glasses if you need them, and then can't read the small print!!!)
Ace bleach is colour safe, (I think) but not sure how whitening it isI know it's good for stain removal.
You never get a second chance to make a first impression.0 -

Hi,
You can buy various products with names such as 'colour run remover', but they do only tend to work best on items that are purely just white IMO, so if his top has, say a blue stripe or whatever, expect that to lose it's colour too.
However, I suppose you have to look at it that you have nowt to lose now anyway if it's beyond being worn again in it's current state, so even if it does have another colour in it, it'll be worth trying the colour run remover. It is readily available from Wilkos, Asda, Tesco etc, usually around the wash powder aisle, in a small box priced about £1.50 for 2 disasters worth!Use it carefully though - it gives off really bad fumes and it stinks! Does work well though, but keep your eye on it and don't leave it in longer than stated or the white will go grey!
They always run onto the bl00dy designer clothes don't they! Never on the old tea towels that you shove in there!
Good Luck!0 -
Oh, and in the meantime, if the top hasn't dried yet it is apparently best to keep it wet - just in a bucket of clear water for example - might help to stop the pink from fully soaking in?0

Hello goldilocks
I'll move your thread to the 'Old Style' board, where it should get more responses.
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. Try re-washing it first, if it hasn't dried, the colour may come out.
Failing that, soak in the sink in water with a drop of bleach, maybe increase the strenght of the bleach if the top doesn't return to white.....
Or try the colour-run stuff that you can get at the supermarket.

Colour Run does work pretty well ~ but on the otherhand, do that a few times, and your son will want to do his own washing:rotfl: :rotfl:0

If you wash it with one of those "colour catcher" sheets that are supposed to let you do a mixed wash (but in my experience don't and only mean your whites get dyed a lighter pink/blue/grey (delete as appropriate) than they would have done otherwise) that should get rid of it without affecting any coloured bits. Similarly sometimes washing things that have picked up dye along with plenty of sacrificial white cotton things like towels or tea towels works too. Either of those have a good chance if it has been kept wet and might work if it has air dried but if it has been tumble dried they probably won't work and you'll have to use bleach or colour run remover (in which the active ingredient is presumably bleach).0

thanks everyone,he doesn't know yet,so will soak it tonight and if that doesn't work buy the colour run.after the initial disaster i put it back in the wash with the colour catcher sheets, which have caught some of it.i'll let you know how i get on. i can't even buy him another one to replace it, not at those designer prices0
