Colour Run Disaster

Hi ladies, I need ideas!
Bought dress, 100% polyester for OH's Xmas party. Really cool one-it has white block on top part with another block of fabric going over chest to tie behind your neck and rest is black.
It had a mark and I had to wash it. Despite cold wash and colour catcher the top part is now off white/grey!!
What to do? I need something that I can only put on the white bit, without getting to the black part as that is obviously unstable colourant..
Any idea what and how? Tried standing over bucket with bleach water and immersing just white part, but a/it didn't do much (probably mot long enough) b/smelled of bleach afterwards, even though I tried to rinse it out.0 -
I would take it back to the shop, that really should not happen especially with the precautions you took.Thoughts to all. Mrs D.

I would take it back too - but if that's not possible you could try Dr Beckman's rescue remedy, available from the supermarket.I wanna be in the room where it happens0

A lot of clothes made with two different coloured fabrics cant be washed in biological washing powder, it makes the colours run, and they should say on the label. I would take it back, but the Dr Beckmanns may work, it all depends in time, and if you want to risk throwing good money after bad. It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0

That's really unsatisfactory. If they are decent they should give you a refund.
TBH I think the chances of getting the grey out without fading or splashing the black are minimal (Dylon Colour Run worked well for me once but it did fade the clothes slightly and that was something that was the same colour all over so it didn't matter so much). If all else fails you could try dyeing the garment with machine dye. It won't affect the black and if you choose the right colour - perhaps a strong blue or dark green? - it should disguise the grey. Machine dye works very well and doesn't damage your machine.Life is mainly froth and bubble

I've managed to dye a number of my formerly white tea towels an attractive shade of pink having washed them with my lovely red table cloth
My cousin mentioned that she'd bought a colour remover that I could use to rectify this? I'm familiar with the colour catcher sheets (although I obviously don't use them!) but I can't find anything to remove colour after the event.
Any suggestions?Piglet

I did the same a few weeks ago. DD put in the wash some dark red jeans. I bought some dye run stuff from Wilkinsons. Some of the red came out but not enough.
I ended up binning what we could not live with.:(The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0 -
There are colour run removers - you'll find them in the laundry section of any supermarket with the colour catchers, stain removers etc.
If the tea towels are simply white, then you could soak them in a bucket of bleach solution for a while............ Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -
Thanks, I mainly shop online as the only supermarkets close to me are very small. I've tried finding them on Tesco but can only find the colour catchers.
Unfortunately they aren't just white (and there are some peach now pink towels as well)
