... Then I installed the free Avast which I think is absolutely great, it updates regularly as soon as an update is available,... I would never go back to AVG now....

I spelled that out in nice big letters a couple of days ago, after getting fed up repeating the same thing over and over again, but the moderators decided to remove it for some reason

If you don't understand what an ONLINE SCANNER is, then don't post in this thread!

I think I need this elsewhere but you guys seem to know what you are talking about (unlike me)! Sons laptop acer aspire 5520 (Sept 2008) went wrong Oct 2009 various things and now cant access internet at all and sometime wont come on at all. Is it the hard-drive, the motherboard or what? Now out of warranty and Tescos not interested (bought on CC)! I am loathe to write off £600 without a good try or a fight with the big guys! Any help greatfully received and please move if this should be elsewhere.

So that'll also be the 12th link down the list on the original post, then?? TOG
TOG : I am currently running with Vista Firewall, Ad-Aware, & Spy-Bot, but in a recent Spy-Bot scan it indicated a malware, but it could not remove the problem. Can you recommend a good free malware remover ? Also I saw a post on here somewhere, (not this thread) for Sandboxie - www.sandboxie.com Have you heard of this and would you recommend for a non-techie? I downloaded it, but it looks very complicated.
    Thanks once again. theloft.
