Personally I tend to go to http://download.cnet.com/ and see what is most popular at the tiem, things are always changing and being updated and i find seeing what others are doing is a good indication to which software your likely to need.“I find television very educating. Every time somebody turns on the set, I go into the other room and read a book.”0

I sometimes wonder about the literacy of some (and I emphasise 'some') members of this forum when they can't even read/understand the title of the thread they are replying to, that's three unrelated posts on the trot :rolleyes:0 -
Apart from the fact that is an extremely poor way of choosing good anti-malware software, what has that got to do with ONLINE virus scanners???

I was going to post something similar. It never ceases to amaze me how people don't bother to read a thread before posting in it :wall:
To be fair to the last poster though, you can find the likes of Kaspersky, BitDefender, Housecall online scanners on cnet.. (surprised me, but then you do have to download a small file to use them). It doesn't look like that's what s/he meant, but [STRIKE]I[/STRIKE] we could be wrong0 -
McAfee works best for me when it comes to virus removal.
Are you sure you're talking about the online scanner? It doesn't as far as I know give you the ability to remove viruses (assuming it can detect them, in my experience even the installed app can't find viruses)."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Firstly this is a thread specifically for links to on-line virus scanners, so you should start your own thread for other issues.
Regarding your problem, update your AVG and this problem should be sorted. e.g. open the User Interface and click the button "Update now" Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Hi all.
I have reformatted my Packard Bell laptop and as a security measure d/l the most upto date versions of Zone Alarm and AVG free that I have been using for years. I have cc cleaner installed so that I am successful in getting tracking to sites like TCB & Quidco as I had been having problems with items not tracked when first signing up. When I do use TCB & Quidco I disable Zone Alarm & AVG free & use CCleaner in between.
However on AVG 9 I couldn't find the option to disable it at all. I tried the help and right click in taskbar nothing. I had backed up my free copy of AVG 8.5 free which is easily disabled by right clicking it on the taskbar and disabling and enabling it as necessary. However during installing it the set up asked me for a Licence no. It said this even though the version is free. I have checked the other laptop I am currently using it on and there's no hint of a license no.
The set up does ask me about what I may have been sent by email to validate it, but my emails are just a link to verify myself to use the free forums and they are time sensitive from when the email has been sent.
I can't use the laptop with no protection, and I want my tracking to be picked up. Haven't found an easy way to d/l 8.5 as most links have upgraded to the new AVG version.
My windows privacy settings are on medium, and I would appreciate any assistance in getting around the not being tracked but keeping my system secure. Any AVG/ZA related assistance would really help me out.
Thanks all.0
