The threat factor is as perceived by Igloo. Whether it was a man and a woman, two women, or even two 10-year-olds is not relevant. If Igloo FELT threatened, then she WAS threatened! I doubt that she recognises the description of 'over-dramatisation'.0

Hi
I've been away for the weekend and came back late last night.
I really am sorry if I'm upsetting MSEers out there. When i went onto this site, I just wanted people to know what had happened to me in case it ever happened to them.Deleted_User wrote:It wasn't unlawful either.
The shop have the right to reasonably ask a customer anything. It sounds to me like she was invitied into the office (rather than having the discussion at the tills) and she went willingly with no force used. Perhaps Igloo can confirm?
She did not have to go. Neither does anyone else.
She could have walked out the shop forcing them to make a decision as to whether to physically detain her. The shop then take the risk of wrongful arrest, unlawful imprisonment, defamation of character and assault.
.....
I wasnt invited to the office. I was told I had to go to the office and they walked off with my trolley with my belongings inside. If I had walked out of the shop, I would have left goods that I had already paid for behind plus my bag, mobile and car keys. If I had just walked out, I would have not been able to leave the car park or phone for help!
I did try to grab my bag etc but they told me that I couldnt and that "It was far more serious than that"wannasave wrote:and if you look back at the original post by igloo and read it thoroughly you will find that it was not two males at all - the customer service manager was a WOMAN! So it was one female (CS manager) and one male (security). The over dramatisation that has become apparent in this whole sorry thread is getting ever worse, ...
I'm really am sorry if i caused confusion but the cs manager was a woman and the security manager was a man. They were both sitting down when he asked my name. He then asked for my clubcard because I refused to give my name. When the security manager stood up and took a step towards me and said i could not leave until I gave my clubcard I dont think she even bat an eyelid. I think if he had used force to get my card back she would have helped him!
Some have asked on here what have I done.
I'm afraid I'm what I call a tomorrow person. I put things off...."I'll do it tomorrow". I wrote the letter at the time because theres no point putting something like that off. I also phoned the police that evening. Thats all I've done so far. I dont like a lot of fuss if you know what I mean.0 -

I think that's totally out of order, that's just your opinion and you are accusing them of actions when they have no way of defending themselves or putting their side of the story,
lot's of posters here have referred to these 2 people as '2 males' and at no time have you come in to correct thisI am a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Wales, Small Biz MoneySaving, In My Home (includes DIY) MoneySaving, and Old style MoneySaving boards. Sorry if you think its out of order. I think the way they treated me was out of order. the letter from HO says that "the situation could have been handled with more care and diplomacy". But yes, it is my opinion.Glad wrote:...

Also, I have responded to lots of questions and I thought I had also responded to this. This is why I mentioned again today that I was sorry for any confusion as i realised that some people said two men and some said man and woman. In my very first post I stated that a cs manager had approached me and i mentioned she was a woman. Then the same person and a security manager took me to the office the day i was banned.
Once again, sorry for the confusion0 -
Hi Igloo.
Sorry for the trouble you have had. I have really enjoyed reading this thread. However, although I can understand why you went to the office I personally would have told them to get lost (or maybe in alittle bit of a stronger toned langauge ######), Grabbed my belongings (if refused would have gone to get the police for theft) and walked out the store. If I was then man handled in anyway I would be sueing either Tesco's or the staff members directly.
by the way they have no rights to keep you against you will unless the police have been called to deal with the matter. They cannot search you or demand any of your items without the police present...0 -

What have the police told you Igloo?0

They said that the coupon/clubcard/trespass incidents were civil. For trespass they said that they couldnt phone the police if I went back as its a civil matter.
They said that the security manager definitely should not have acted the way he did and that I could report it.
I think that it would just waste their time though. They would probably go there and say that theyve had a report and just tell him not to do it again. The police have got better things to do.0
