You can oven bake them but it takes ages. Brush with a little fat of some sort, whatever you've got, and cook on a med-high setting for up to an hour. Even then they don't always go "chip-coloured".
It would be far quicker and easier to pop to your nearest shop for a bottle of oil!I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

Microwave them first for 3-5 mins, then spray or brush with a little fat, whatever you've got, and they'll only take about 20-25 mins in oven.0

I used to make low calorie chips in the oven. Firstly i would cut up the potatoes into chip.Part boil them. Remove from pan and dry with kitchen roll Dissolve an oxo in hot water. Lay chips onto a baking tray and brush over with the dissolved oxo cube. Takes about half hour to cook. Gas mark 6 Taste good and also low fat. When life gives you a hundred reasons to cry, show life that you have a thousand reasons to smile0

I'm not a big chip person so usually just buy a bag of organic oven chips for the odd occasion that we have them, however I have a glut of potatos & it seems silly to buy ready made ones when I must surely:o (hopefully?:o) be capable of making them myself?
Is it just a case of chopping into chip shapes, spraying a bit of oil on them & bunging them in the oven? Do I need to par-boil? Or is it more complicated than that?
Thanks very much:oPost Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p

We double fry. Cut into chip shapes then have oil on a medium heat, then take them off after 5 mins-stick oil on high then fry for a further 3-4 mins and they crisp up lovely.
We have tried fresh oven chips but can never get them right, so just buy frozen-sorry.

I know it's not very healthy but I don't think you can beat homemade chips done in a fryer0

If making oven chips...cut into chip shapes....put into boiling water for a couple of mins...drain....spray baking tray with oil [ i use frylight] put chips on tray and spray with oil . cook in oven , medium heat[mark 6] for about 30 mins...turn part the way throughWe don't need to do it perfectly - good enough is exactly that GOOD ENOUGH.0
