I tried to post earlier and it chucked me off................

((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))) if you need one especially Smokey........you are never far from my thoughts at this very trying time for you and your family.

Into town this morning. We went into the travel agents to cost up flights etc, they wanted £100 more for the flights that I can get from Continental themselves............also the Hotel was more, so guess I will be booking the trip on the internet.........we did find a hotel close the Birmingham airport with courtesy transfer to the airport. We have to check in at 6am for the flight, so plan to have a sleep over close to the airport.

We had a letter from the Council, OH had a rise in one of his pensions of £2 a month, they want us to replay £1.54 HB and £2.94 CT, I wish we could manage without claiming, but its our right..................We will have the same performance when the civil service increases come in at the end of April.........it will be June/July before they work it out, and we will then have a change in our rent etc, it drives me mad and again we will have to pay money back....there are times when I wonder if it is really worth it. You pay into pension schemes and are penalised for being thrifty.............

OH has gone down to the bowls club to meet a builder about getting the floor re laid in the changing rooms.

I need to get on with two cards, they are being collected tomorrow, a bit of a rush job..........but its all grist to the mill, more for the Florida account.

Right off for a cuppa and get on with the cards.

STEFEJIB - you made me laugh with your story of asking about music. I made the same mistake with my DGS when I asked him exactly what an 'innings' was in cricket! Almost half an hour later I had been told and didn't have the heart to say I still didn't understand! Cricket is one of his passions and he thinks I feel the same way about it! If I ask my DH anything, I always get a diagram as well - needless to say, I only ask him when I've got an hour and a half to spare.

Now you mention it ...... it might have been revenge - she asked me to explain the offside rule at the weekend which i understand remarkably well for a girlie - now THAT lecture did involve diagrams (and different coloured cups)

Hi everyone. Just finished packing away the shopping - I hate that job but it's all done for another week. I called in to one charity shop and bought a lovely wooden coffee grinder - something I've been loooking for for a while, and a jumper that was on the sale rail. I bought it to experiment with felting but, when I tried it on at home, I liked it! I shall have to look for another one to felt, now! I did go into the wool shop and stroke a few balls (of wool, I hasten to add!) but told myself firmly that I have about 3000 balls of the stuff at home to be used up, so I actually left without buying. I'm very proud of myself for that.

JOANNASMUM - I'm so sorry to hear about your cat. I meant to mention it earlier. I don't have any cats at the moment. We had to have the last one put to sleep due to severe old age and the one before that had reached a grand old age and was very doddery. He took to sleeping under my car and I hate to admit it but I accidentally reversed over the poor thing; it was the first time I had forgotten to check where he was. I took him straight to the vet's and there was nothing that could be done for him. He was eighteen years old and much-loved by family, friends and neighbours alike. My DS2 and his GF have a beautiful kitten now and we go and visit him whenever we get withdrawal symptoms. My DH would have dozens of cats if he could!

Well, off to make a cuppa and do some knitting. See you all later.

SMOKY - thinking of you as always.

    Hi everybody :hello:

MSE forums seem to be accessible again on my work computer - am saying this quietly in case the powers that be overhear me and block them ;) I will not be making a habit of coming on here during working hours, though, as my boss told me off last month for overuse of message boards, and that was just the OTHER forums I go on :o I've got a funky new mobile phone though, with unlimited web access included in my tariff, so can have a sneaky peek at the forum during the day anyway, even if it is a bit tricky to post (it doesn't seem to let me select the "remember me" option when I log in ).

    Happy birthday Poppet :bdaycake:

After several months of permanently solid workload I've booked two days off at the end of next week :j so am going to the hairdresser on Thursday (cut & colour - not cheap but such a lovely stylist, and seeing as I haven't had my hair cut since last August :o I can easily justify the expense :D) and for Friday I've booked myself into the salon at the London College of Beauty Therapy for a VERY BARGAINOUS deep cleansing facial. I've never had any kind of beauty treatment other than hairdressing before - oh, I did get my legs waxed once - and I'm a bit concerned I might develop a taste for being high-maintenance :D

    Love Rzl xx

    hello there

ironing has been interupted by a horrible freaky deep-breathing phone-call. When I realised I just said "I will be reporting this phonecall to the police, thank you for calling!"

problem was i then went to call BT, but the line isn't free until the person that initiates the call hands-up and he (I am presuming he) was still there!

It's made me feel really on edge and I can't concentrate.

sorry to moan - other than that things ok, WM on AGAIN and I'm in the middle of ironing. chicken and cous cous veggies for dinner and I'm planning on making a coffee and walnut cake for a treat for DH tonight (I saw a few threads earlier in teh week which inspired me!).

    My 4000th's post! :j :T

I had written a very long post, thanking each and every one of you by name, with a small anecdote and accompanying photo. Sadly, the computer ate it, so have this big thank you and collective hug. Here's to the next 4000 posts of mindless waffle :rotfl: ;)

    Afternoon Guys!

Well 2 bits of annoying news today! Our final gas bill (6 week period) has come in at just under £200:eek:    ...we have switched companies and our DD is now £85pcm from £96 we were paying (the £200 is being taken by DD next week:eek: )and our rent is increasing by £7per week (from April 08) which is a 6.75% increase...its a HA property so is about 50% cheaper than the property across the road so cant moan:rolleyes: ...seems quite steep though:confused:

I dont know if anyone is looking for a new printer, but have found this one with a £20 cashback http://www.ebuyer.com/product/132443
OH's came today and it also comes with 2 full size ink cartridges..not the tester ones! Ebuyer is brilliant and if you top the order to £50 (you will get £20 back off your printer remember) then you will also get free delivery! Cheaper than buying the ink cartridges TBH!

DD is definetly going back to school tomorrow..she is driving me mental:D...thinking about going to the cinema after early hospital appointment as we havent been for a while and next we are busy at the hospital. Must look and see whats on.

Havent done a proper shop for 11 days now and need to get a few things for the weekend, so might pop to Morrisons if we go out tomorrow and will get OH to treat me to a coffee:p ..I can also use their electric wheelchair and run all the [STRIKE]brats[/STRIKE] kids over;) ...Im only joking BTW:p

Anyway, just about to have a cuppa. Having cheese & pot pie tonight and not the Shepherds Pie we are supposed to be having.

    Take care

Rmac - hope you are feeling better now, must admit myself and everyone I know have suffered those sort of calls but havnt heard of one for years.

Well checking back in, gonna use this as a way of keeping myself in check - sorry for boring you lot in the process :rotfl:

This morning got a lot of paperwork done, OH cleared the washing basket and this afternoon I cleared the ironing pile. Didnt get out for a walk but did go to Morrisons and get all the food I need for the weekend and early part of next week.

Just about to bung dinner on then will be having a lovely sit down tonight enjoying all the more for getting stuff done today.
